I’m looking to purchase something for use at home but don’t want to spend a lot of money.

  • In all honesty there is so many more things you can do for free to tone up or lose a little bit of weight. I recently put on alot of weight due to medication and I realised that I wasnt drinking water… I was drinking coffee with 3 sugars ALL day ( probably close to 20 a day), plus the fizzy drink… I started drinking water all throughout the day, quit drinking coffee throughout the day and stopped the fizzy drink.i then added little tasks around the house like mopping twice a day ( youd be suprised how much of a workout cleaning does) after all those changes i lost 6 kilos in my first month.. im now into my 2nd month and im glad i didnt waste $$ on something i cant obtain for free.   • Try ebay as hub bought an abswing many years ago for less than 200. Check their feedback and it should be fine .

  • two feet placed in runners, and a robust walk – with kids on bikes if need be, or on own if you have that luxury… good luck

  • You can pick up a cross trainer for about $200 on somewhere like deals direct. You don’t need to pay hundreds of dollars for exercise equipment. Also look on gumtree as people spend lots and then don’t use them. Also the best exercise is walking so grab your dog or a friends and hit the pavement. Border collies walk at a great pace. Also you can watch free exercise programs on your computer or tablet instead of buying them.

  • I got a cross trainer off ebay and used it a little then not much for about a year. I’m back on track. have set my alarm to do it in the morning as i find im full of excuses in the night after work.
    I also walk around the park when the kids are playing or riding their bikes, I use runkeeper etc so i can keep motivated.

  • I like the idea of having exercise equipment at home….. even after I’ve given mine away because I don’t use them. The cheap alternative that I don’t feel guilty about if I don’t use often is a skipping rope and a step stool (which comes in handy for other things). Of course if I have more time and the weather is nice I’ll go walking, but it’s not always possible.

  • We are all guilty of buying exercise equipment with the very best intentions and do use it for a couple of weeks or so then get board and it becomes a dust collector. I have sold all mine but one. I walk now and I enjoy being out doors. Walking and jogging and a good diet for 12 weeks and you will feel great. Best of luck.

  • You can do plenty of exercises without a machine. Check out the blog posts at MOM. I was reading one yesterday on great body weight activities to do.

  • Yes, they are called feet. Walk. Even walk on the spot. Also look on YouTube for Blogalaties, Tiffany Rothe, Fitness Blender……. all fantastic & free.

  • an exercise bike is good for cardio and go for walks around

    an exercise trampoline and skipping rope is fun

  • The bikes work well & you can quite often pick them up cheap

  • I have a stationary bike however find that the basics are what I use most – running shoes, yoga mat, a set of dumbbells and a bar bell. Nothing fancy or too expensive. Having a step is handy too but not essential

  • Second hand stationary bike – it’s not the equipment it is how you use it.
    20 mins – 8 secs flat out/12 secs slow-rest-recover (3 cycles per min for 20 mins)
    Hard but guaranteed to build fitness and fight flab.
