  • It depends on the breed and age of puppy. Most puppies can deal with most foods if they are gradually introduced to them. I find a mix of wet and dry food is a good combination, chaining the flavour every month of so to keep things interesting.

  • A lot of pups and adult dogs don’t digest carrot properly. We were told by the Vet that Pumpkin is better as it is easy for them to digest.

  • Depending on how old your pup is. They start out on puppy milk then puppy biscuits softened wth milk than onto wet but only puppy age to start otherwise its too rich and the lil one will get an upset stomach

  • Dogs need a combination of wet and dry food. You can buy puppy specific food from the supermarket. You don’t need expensive brands found at the vet. You can also buy pet mince from the butcher and cook it up yourself with veggies and/or rice or pasta. But the dog food has added vitamins and minerals necessary to a healthy dog diet

  • We were also given a feeding guide and a puppy information pack which contained lots of useful information on puppy care. We got this information from the vet and from the local pet food supply store.

  • Thanks for your comments this was helpful

  • Your vet will be able to give the right advice for your type of puppy. A reputable supplier of pet food will also be able to assist with buying the right food for your puppy.

  • When my dog was a puppy I used to cook for him: rice, carrots, meat. The vet me told me that was unnecessary. Dry food would do.
