“I was just wondering if anyone had some ideas on toddler formula. My 1 year old(today) has been formula feed and now looking into whether or not go with a follow on formula or switch to cows milk. I am just worried about which one and what others have done might help. I tried a follow on formula when my first was 1 but she hated it. ” What is better, follow on formula or cow’s milk?

  • Cows milk is great, my little ones got put on it, though I have found with my youngest one that he is getting constipated so have to watch and maintain his water levels to try and prevent this

  • I didn’t use a follow on I actually used the sustagin kid essentials as by the time my daughter was 1 she was practically off her bottles and only had a night time one. She wasn’t a fan of cows milk but would have it if she had to. The bonus with the sustagin was that you could make it as strong or as weak as you wanted and it still had everything needed.

  • We switched to cows milk at about 14 months. We also dropped to 1 bottle before bed and shortly after we took that away too. Because we did it quite young he has no attachment issues to a bottle. We offer him cows milk in a cup once a day as well as milk in his cereal, yoghurt and cheese :)

  • There is no rush to stop your regular formula, regardless of age. Until my kids were eating a variety of foods. I kept my kids on 2 to 3 bottles of formula a day, and I added cows milk too.

  • I put my twins on cows milk at 1 (now 2years old). Bused the bottle half milk half water at first then after a month or two it was straight cows milk. They r hardly ever sick n r big healthy boys. It’s totally up to u what u decide.

  • Our 1st was fussy eater so used follow on more due to added vitamins etc, our 2nd eats well so straight to cows milk for her :)

  • i put my son onto normal milk at 1 (he was lactose intollerant so lact-free milk) as he was getting all the nutrients he needed from his food coz he was a great eater :)

  • For me personally – i did use the follow on. Reason being – my kids seem to get sick & couldnt shake a lot of their sicknesses (from daycare & general life) so after about a month – i thought ‘try the toddler continue formula’ & it seemed to work just to give that boost. Cant explain it – didnt bother with the sugar content coz cows milk is quite high too. It was only for about 5 months & now they are hardly sick. Personal choice. There will be pros & cons, circumstances

  • My almost ten month old has become fussy with Breastfeeding. Just refuses unless it’s purely for comfort in the night. I now just give him cows milk . He is fine with it. I did introduce slowly. I tried the A2 milk but he seemed irritable after having it. He eats egg, cheese and yoghurt so I figured cows milk is fine. He drinks it from a mag mag cup. Thought I may as well get rid of bottles at the same time. Each child is different so try a few different things and go with what works well. It’s your decision. You know your baby best!

  • Toddler milk has too much sugar!

  • Cows milk especially if she has a good food diet. Try a2 lighter on the stomach

  • I think each are different

  • All of mine were different, my two sons both had follow on then cows milk at about 2 yrs of age and my girls didn’t want either so they stayed on formula and breast milk till 2.5 yrs and then didn’t want anything but had cows milk

  • Cows milk once they turn 1

  • Cows milk. Birthday arrived and off formula both my girls went and onto cows milk. Both eating a good variety of foods at one so felt it was time and neither had had any issues with dairy products.
