I have heard this mentioned in articles I have read, but I am still unsure of what it is.

  • I am glad I raised this question. So many well informed answers. This site is better than google most of the time. Thank you all

  • There are certain trigger points on the body to test for Fibromyalgia and I will attempt to include if possible. I have fibro and find that sugar is my biggest trigger to a flare up. If I watch what I eat and limit the amount hugely I am fine.

These 18 points (9 pairs) tend to be painful when pressed, and may spread pain to other body parts. American College of Rheumatology guidelines suggest that people with fibromyalgia have pain in at least 11 of these tender points when a doctor applies a certain amount of pressure.

  • I think I have this. I am regularly saying to myself that I feel like my legs and body feels heavy and have unexplained achy feeling in my legs and arms and feel very lethargic. I do have arthritic knee problems and do suffer despression ad well. I wonder if it is related to the medication I take for it. I think I will mention this to my Dr and see what he thinks.

  • It is essentially muscle aches with no other diagnosable cause.

  • Arthritis can be dreadful too

  • My cousin has this and it impacts quite heavily on her life. It’s basically body aches and pains, tiredness etc. It can’t be cured but it can be treated to ease the symptoms. I think it’s similar to arthritis

  • Thank you for all your comments.

  • Muscle aches and pains, often symmetrical around the body (so you don’t just get right side hip pain for exampls), with particular points around the body that seem to be especially susceptible. Hard to diagnose I think.

  • Fybromialgia can be quite debilitating. It brings tiredness, muscle pain and can be related to depression too.

  • I find this info quite clear : http://www.healthline.com/health/fibromyalgia
