Hello!

I have seen this in a few recipes on MOM so I decided to find out what it is exactly – can anyone tell me what GF flour is?

  • gluten free

  • Gluten free flour but mine is basically rice flour. You can just substitute normal flour… May need to eye off how runny or thick the mixture is and add more liquid accordingly

  • There are a ton of GF products in our local supermarkets – so lucky to have such a wide range of products available these days.

  • If it is Gluten free then I expect the label to say that and not expect consumers to guess. If they did that I would not trust the brand as I don\’t believe in abbreviations especially if I am buying a product that will be ingested .

  • Thank you JUNE11 that is very interesting about the buckwheat.

  • Gluten Free flour or any food means it contains no wheat, barley or rye at all. The protein in them can cause intestine and bowel inflamation. Left untreated, it causes permanent damage and can also cause cancer. A close friend of mine suffers from it.
Other sources of flour are made from Rice, Potato and Buckwheat to name a few. Buckwheat is from the flower or rhubarb. Why it has wheat in its name confuses me. Oats contain a very similar protein and have the same affects as the banned grains have for coelics

  • I am learning such a lot from mom!

  • Gluten free! It is so common these days

  • Ditto, the other replies. Gluten free flour. Seems like an oxymoron but it does exist.

  • GF flour is: gluten free flour :)

  • I came to answer but can see it’s been well addressed already :)

  • A friend of mine made gluten free Anzac biscuits. boy were they yummy!

  • I’ve always understood it to mean gluten free.

  • GF is gluten free-maybe we need a table with food codes?
