Hello!

Hi all, how the heck do I clean windows well? I used to use windex and newspaper, but that doesn’t seem to work so well nowadays. I have a new (old) home, and the windows are full of grime, screens mouldy, and I so wish I could get them spotless… PLEASE share your great tips…. I even purchased a karcher window cleaner and it leaves epic streaks! Cannot wait to hear what you all say….

  • We use a steam cleaner. There’s a new squidgey thing I’ve seen on tv that I wouldn’t mind trying

  • oh my son said metho today, so I have a bottle of it, will try.. thanks

  • Initially I use just disinfectant if it’s really grubby from animals and kids then to remove streaks I use mentholated spirits with newspaper as I get no residue and it removed all marks.

  • thanks again ladies – love the tip re dry squidgy!!

  • I use an Enjo cleaning pack – which is two cloths and just plain water. Cleans them really well.

  • I use ordinary washing-up liquid in hot water, a squeege and 2 dry cloths. To prevent streaks you dry the squeege between wipes with one dry cloth and use another dry cloth to wipe any streaks that you notice appear on the window. But keeping the squeege dry BEFORE using on window is a key technique to avoiding streaks in the first place.

  • I use my katcher cleaner on my windows and shower screen so I am not of much help.

But thank you for posting your question as I found the katcher cleaner didn’t do outside windows as well and I can use other comments hints to help. Thank you

  • Thanks ladies – appreciate your help

  • I had the same problems and battled for ages to get clean, streak free windows. I hated cleaning windows so much because of the time, effort and poor results that I just wouldn’t do it. Then I discovered NORWEX. Alls it takes is two clothes (Enviro Cloth and Window Cloth) and water. No chemical and just a small amount of elbow grease. Clean window with the wet enviro cloth and then buff with the window cloth. Quick , easy, no chemicals and streak free.

  • Windex and a cloth works everytime for me!

  • Try a mixture of water and vinegar in a spray bottle

  • thank you!

  • Hot water mixed with vinegar works well for a fairly streak free finish and it’s not toxic
