Hello!

I’d like to know if anyone has tips on how to keep the pool from going green.

  • Check and adjust the chemical levels a couple of times a week.

  • The only way I really know of is to check the PH values regularly, and adjust the chemicals if needed. That and cleaning.

  • All great answers to keep in mind!

  • I don’t have a pool, but if I did I would ask a pool specialist as they probably have some good tips.

  • You need to run your filter at least 4 hours a day (even in winter). A cover to keep leaves/debris out certainly helps and start by testing a sample of the water to ensure the levels are right and if not, get on top of that straight away.

  • Also; maybe get someone in to give it a good clean.

  • if it goes green does that not mean that you are not using enough chlorine?

  • Cleaning and maintaining the pool is the only way. Seek some advice from an expert if in need of any cleaning and maintenance advice.

  • depending on the size of the pool, those pool cleaner robots. you can buy a kit so that you can test the water yourself at home

  • Constant cleaning, I’m afraid – nothing else has worked for us.

  • Follow the below advise & always increase your filter time in summer. The cubes that go in the skimmer box always improves the cloudy water.

  • I battled with this constantly, but keep the chlorine levels up, I used to check everynight, then shock treat the pool every sunday night, and then every six months I use a product called algibloc, which I now get from Woolies, or any discount department store, I found this one seemed to work the best for us, it is also important the the ph levels are correct, get the water tested at the local pool shop if possible, get your levels right and then it is easy, once you get it under control you do not need to monitor it as much as you get to know your pool, don’t give up, it is frustrating but you just need to learn how to manage your pool.

  • You keep water clean and clear by using a filter and test the water p h balance and depending on the reading, you I will know what chemical is required. Any pool sales shop will advise you. When not in use, keep the cover on it because sunlight is what causes the algie. The other option is to have a salt water pool, they are much easier to care for.
