As a soon-to-be first-time mum, I’m wondering if any experienced pram-drivers can recommend things about prams to avoid like the plague? eg difficult clips, awkward seat angles, wheel nightmares? I have read some good lists about what to look for in a good pram, but what were the deal breakers with prams that you wished you had never bought?

  • There has been studies that babies who face the parent while being pushed fall asleep easier in the pram, feel safer while being pushed along and have lower stress levels, in saying that I got a pram with the reversible handle and it also can have the whole base detach so I can decide which wheels I want at the front, I also have a forward facing three wheeler which Im not such a fan of as the steering is horrible. Best advise is go to the baby shops and push them all around, at the same time imagining them 10kg heavier

  • I quite liked my pram, even though it takes a huge space in the boot. I would consider the capacity of the basket both size wise and weight. Also, can you push it one handed carrying a bag of rice? Then imagine the bag of rice wriggling and wailing at the same time.

  • Make sure it fits in your boot ok. Ours takes up the whole space and is very heavy.

  • Don’t worry about being fancy or having the most expensive, go for something that folds and unfolds up the easiest. And make sure it fits in your car.

  • Heavy prams that are hard to turn
Prams that don’t fit through aisles
Prams that don’t fold down small

  • Prams with a wide wheel base are very annoying in shops (my friend can only go the the disabled checkout at the supermarket. Prams that are heavy and difficult to get in and out of the car will drive you nuts. Good under basket storage is a must. I would recommend something lightweight and easy to use of something that looks ‘pretty’. Good luck.

  • I bought a pram that had a reversible handle very good idea as you are looking at baby.
It also steered properly in the opposite direction as it had the right sort of wheels.
I like it as it had a big canopy for sun protection you can pop the handle the opposite direction to the sun whilst walking bub. I also chose a Limo pram as I intended to have three kids in four years. Had somewhere to pop the shopping in as well. I chose Steelcraft as they had all these features. Remember when you purchase the pram take it outside the shop and see if it fits in your car boot etc….
