Hello!

Natural Birth? Caesarean? What did you end up having? All 3 labours I had a natural birth and if all goes well with this one I am planning on a natural if I can.

  • I had caesareans, but not by choice

  • I was induced to get contractions going and had a natural birth.

  • Well I had two caesarean births. Not planned that way, but you know about the best laid plans and all.
My first after 19 hours of labour, had to be a Caesar as my son was coming neck first, and he and I almost died. I didn’t see him for nearly two days, as he was in ICU care, I had general and was unable to be “tubed” so made the operation very difficult, (which neither the doctor or I knew) and they had trouble keeping me. My son was ok, and no problems.
My daughter, was an planned Caesar, after the difficulty of the first. I went in two weeks early, and during the night went into labour, but fortunately, the doctor came early & she was born, after much kicking after the catheter was inserted, and the delivery staff couldn’t believe my stomach rocking & rolling with her, kicking etc, cause of the discomfort of it.
I was told by a caring staff member, after my first, – “but you are still a mother, even though you didn’t give birth naturally”, I could have wrung her neck, what did she think, 19 hrs labour & surgery was ? .. a breeze?? I had to keep telling myself .”I too, was a Mum”.
Number two, was planned, so both my husband and myself were together & knew straight away what we had and it was so so so much better, than waking up drowsy and asking many times over “what did I have?”
I’d have loved to have had naturals, but we’re all dealt the cards we’re handed, and don’t ever believe that having a “Caesar” is the easy way out, believe me, the healing and trying to do things with a painful back & stomach is not the greatest, and the “natural” mums are up and waking straight away.
I have two healthly adult children (always your children, at any age), and I’m one happy Mum. X

  • Both natural, although my first had some intervention due to being breech. My second was pain relief free too, which impressed me

  • All natural births, first was induced as well as being a breech birth. Natural is good, but also good to have medical intervention if needed

  • Natural birth – waters broke 1 day before scheduled induction – 26 hour labour, 2 hits of morphine and had gas… also ended up with episiotomy – was a long haul but so worth it

  • We had a natural water birth with only a little use of the gas! (I hated the gas) we had a baby boy weighing 8.3lbs! :-)

  • First bub:

Plan: Natural water birth. No pain relief.
What actually happened: Had to be induced. Had epidural. Still had bub vaginally.

    Second bub:

    Plan: Epidural.
What actually happened: Didnt realize I was already on labor and I was still walking in shopping center. That night, contractions became unbearable and went to birth suite. I went from 4 cm to 9cm in less than 2 hours and only pushed for 10 minutes. No epidural. No pain relief.

    Lesson:
Whatever I plan doesn’t go accordingly.

haha =) hope all goes well for you. no matter what, you will rock it!

  • all natural, no tears etc, no complications, only a bit of gas with first labour and no pain releif with the rest

  • wow remymumma I am glad you ended up with a baby in your arms.

  • I’ve delivered 7 babies. 6 of those vaginally with no real problems, aside from one PPH. The last baby was an emergency C-section due to cord compression and bradycardia. I also developed intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy at 22 weeks with him. Not a fun time.

  • I have two children my first was 6 hour natural labour with gas, second was 17 hours and natural with nothing no gas or anything had two girls one is nearly 4 and my little one has just turned two I am so very lucky how smoothly both my births went and that I have two very special daughters as soon as I held my babies the pain vanished.

  • I had all natural births, only pethidine and gas for one bub and only because he was an undiagnosed breech birth. And one baby I had no pain relief at all. Not saying I’m a hero, that’s just how they ended up going

  • I think MOM165081’s answer was supposed to be somewhere else! :-)

  • one c-section, two vbac and three c-section – my 3 pregnancies were quite different
