Hello!

Hi MoM,
I’m putting together a basket for my friend’s baby shower. What was the best gift you got for your newborn or for yourself that you either loved or could’ve not done without? I’m thinking to get all your usual items, bib, wraps, products … But I was also thinking of a nice hand cream for mum (especially when you wash your hands so often when bub is there) and lansiho (which helped me)

  • A packet of disposable nappies was the handiest gift.

  • Had crem is a great idea! , a baby book to document milestones, a vapouriser… This litterally saved my sleep! I got one at my baby shower it has been used for every single cold and is still going strong at 7 years old!

  • Loved the baby book my friend got for our son so we can fill it in! I also love books in general, with a note at the front to say who it’s from :) the most useful gift was the breast pump a few friends bought together :)

  • The terry towelling nappies are great for all the spit ups.
Also l now give milo for mum for an extra energy boost for those very hard first 8 weeks.
    bteast pads, maternity pads.
Australia Breastfeeding association membership (or breastfeeding help book)
    A cleaner ????
Some tv shows on a big USB drive for when she is sitting on the lounge with the sleeping baby in her arms ????

Frozen meals, and little snacks that she can grab and eat.
    A white noise machine

  • Mine was baby moses basket from my Mother and a baby rocker.

  • Cloth nappies are great for spew cloths, after baby has eaten or drunk milk etc. Handy for anything to wipe up or clean up after baby has been there.

  • A big pile of face washers is still useful nine years later.

  • Nappies and associated products were also a wonderful gift.

  • I like baby record book also its nice for the mummy to b to get some little gifts herself such as mags, snuggly socks ,chocolate ,mug etc

  • I pop a little toothbrush (the ones with the the round hole handle so bubs can grip it), it can be both a teether and a great start to good oral hygiene, and also a pack of Tim Tams (or other fave bickie) in for mum. A coffee voucher to her fave cafe is nice too.

  • I got from a friend a trinket to keep the baby teeth and a trinket to keep the first hair for later, very nice. We also loved a first baby Bible and a CD with baby lullabies. Oh yes and a “Baby First Hand Foot Print Plaster Casting Kit Mould Frame Keepsake” is very nice to give and get :)

  • A plastic tub for laundry and can also double as a bath once bub is sitting. Lansonoh cream, love to dream swaddles, maternity pads, lulla doll, baby shusher, massage voucher, teething toys (sophie le girafe)

  • Soothing bath products for me and hand knitted outfits for bub!

  • I was given a basket that was for me and bub. hand cream. A hair treament

  • I always hand knit baby beanies and blankets as part of the hamper to give the happy mum-to-be.
In addition, I made my own brand of hand cream and body lotion to pamper mum alone that has shea butter and all the lovely essential oils to soothe and calm her after the busy hours of caring for baby. A little card in the hamper to say there’s plenty more if she wants a refill.
