Hello!

My first bub is on the way in a couple of months and I am currently nesting. What window coverings should I buy for the baby’s room? There are so many to choose from and I want to be careful I don’t have cords hanging everywhere. Thanks

  • I don’t think I can add any more to the many good comments so far.

  • What ever you get make sure its sun blockout so you can put bub to be without the sun light disturbing him/she.

  • I live in a cold climate so I prefer thick, lined curtains. They’re good for keeping warmth in during winter and heat out during summer with the added bonus of also keeping a constant light level in a room. Great for privacy too

  • I have seen blinds that you can get that don’t come with cords they are key locked so you open and close them with a key which is a lot safer

  • If you are worried about cords, the best thing to have is eyelet curtains. Their super easy to install, usually quite cheap and you can get blockout materials too to help bubba sleep.

  • You can buy the back out blinds from spotlight wich are pull down ones that dont have anycords on them.

  • Rollerblinds are awesome as they can block the sun out too! Maybe block out curtains are a good idea so you wouldn’t have to worry too much about tying up the chords

  • I use the geo black out blind, it suction caps to the window so it can go under the current blind. The only down side is it comes only in one size.

  • Choose something with black out backing – it’ll be better energy wise as well as helping keep the room dark. So far as the cords go, tell the company it’ll be in a house with kids and they should be able to offer safe cord options.

  • I have block out blinds, the cords are a big loop and have been attached to the window frame with a hook thing that allows you to open/shut the blinds but little ones can’t get them loose and choke.

  • I’m a sucker for curtains, no chords and you can change & wash them as often as you like!

  • We have a blockout blind special order from bunnings but the cord needs to be secure and out of reach from the baby/children. Plantation shutters look great but take a minimum of 6weeks to order

  • I would definately buy block out blinds and I don’t htink it matters what kind as long as they are blockout!!

  • we purchased black blockout roller blinds from spotlight, they go on special regularly and are affordable when on special. You will also need to purchase a safety kit to attach the loop to the walls. Nust make sure when you purchase blinds like this that they are sunblockout blinds as some look like they aree but dont do the job at all.

  • I found block out normal rod pocket curtains to be the best. I had vertical blinds originally and they have the cords hanging down as well as don’t block a lot of the light. When we added the block out curtains he slept a lot better
