Hello!

Hello, I’m not a mother but I am a daughter (16) who is best friends with my mom and I want to make a special Christmas gift.

  • Think about things your mum likes doing. Maybe a lovely afternoon with you have a coffee and and cake! Doesn’t have to be expensive but something that will mean a lot to her

  • A spa at home box you or movie night in pack full of movies, snacks and Ben fluffy socks. They are great experiences you can share

  • I’d find old photos and make a scarp book with it of memories. You as a baby, you and her, family outings. Write little poems beside each photo, cut out pictures of flowers that she loves etc and paste it in there. It is always the thought that counts.

  • A cleaning service to come once a week/month for a year.

  • I think a day in spa or arranging an evening with her friends and letting her spend some fun time with friends and maybe go for movie would be a nice idea. So giving her a ticket to movie and a nice spa voucher would be great idea

  • You could make a little treasure hunt and at the end you could have a picture of you together.
The hints could be fun stuff you remember doing with mum.

  • I’d love an experience together like a mum and daughter high tea or one of those chocolate making classes.
Doing something fun with my daughter always makes me happy. She’s only 6 months old at the moment but when she grows up I’d love for her to spend time with me here and there as I know she’d have her own friends and ‘life’ growing up at that age but it would definitely make me happy to know that she still wants to hang out with me at times.

  • You could write a letter to her. Explaining all that she means to you. Be specific and give examples. I would LOVE to receive that from my 16 year old daughter.

  • You know her best. I am sure she will be so happy with whatever you get her because for a Mum it really is the thought that counts. Definitely anything that would help or pamper her. Handmade cleaning vouchers or whatever her most hated chore is or you could give her a facial or massage yourself. I used to do this for my Mum and sister and it was a big hit.

  • I know one Mum who used to make her Mum a huge hamper of groceries and other items she knew she liked but could never afford to buy them herself. They knew other relatives always gave her things that she would need new each year. She was a Mum who had an accumulation of some things because she had previously been given the same things for birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas. She wasn’t very mobile and hated going out so they always took meals with them when they visited or even just called in.

  • Give your time, offer to clean up the house, do the laundry for a month, cook her a special dinner with the works, take her out for a special meal, a gift card for a spa treatment, all these can be better than getting an everyday gift.

  • You are an amazing daughter to ask for suggestions. You could take her out for high tea, movies, day spa (plenty of treatments to choose from), a nice book and chocolates. If you want to get creative, what about a scrapbook of your favorite photos of you and your mum

  • Have you decided on anything? Some awesome suggestions below

  • Massage voucher for sure or something where she can spend time with you. Doesn’t have to be much – I would love to go out with my kids for a coffee and a walk around the lake.

  • That’s beautiful!
I would get something that’s just for her , maybe a voucher for a massage or a day spa. Movie tickets for her to go and relax and watch a movie. I think she will really appreciate anything you get her.
