  • I plan to wait till she’s 13 and can make the decision herself.

  • I’m going to wait until they;re a bit older and able to take care of their ears themselves. They’ll probably be less likely to get them pulled out climbing trees or get infections from playing in the sand and dirt.

  • Just be aware the children do scratch their ears aften so I don’t think it is a good idea to have it too soon . My daughter copied my cousin who had her’s done around primary age , so that was easy .

  • up to you really. around four or five is fine.

  • I did my daughter’s ears at 11 months. For me it’s cultural, there are so many more things i can enjoy with her as she grows older but more importantly, she won’t remember the pain. I got both ears dome at the same time. She’s now turning 2 and hates me changing her earrings but i can’t wait till she’s old enough to change them herself so we can go earring shopping together.

  • I will wait with my 2 girls until they ask themselves to get it done. That can be anytime they want but they need to want to get it done and understand that we will have to care for them whilst they heal and it will hurt for a second when they are pierced.

  • I had mine done at 5. My daughter is 4, and I have always maintained that she can get them done when she asks for them. I personally don’t like seeing babies with their ears pierced (only my opinion). I want it to be her decision, not mine. So when she asks, she can get it done. Whether its at 5 or 10 or 15 or whenever.

  • I do agree with mom56312 about getting both ears pierced at the same time as it can be a quite a shock. Still wait until they are teens and can choose for themselves. I know teens that have got up and left with one ear pierced too!

  • I think at least 12 years of age, and only if it’s their wish. My daughter is a teenager and does not want her ears pierced.

  • When they are teenagers and can choose this for themselves and when they can care for their ears and earrings.

  • When ever you choose to get it done try to find a place that will do both ears at the same time. My daughter got hers done for her 5th birthday, even though we told her it would hurt like a really nasty pinch she was not ready for the fright or second of pain that went with it.
So we left the store with only one ear done. it took me 6 weeks to get her to go somewhere else to get the other ear done. This time she was prepaired for the second of pain.
