Hello!

I’m trying to take my lunch to work to save money and watch what I eat but I never know what to pack that will fill me up. What do you put in your lunchbox that keeps you from getting the munchies.

  • I try to pack things that fill me up like rice tuna and veg, some celery and carrot sticks some hummus some chicken or turkey meatballs, a few medjool dates I try to vary it so I don’t get too bored, sometimes a yoghurt.

  • I do the following all in one bowl
    – rice or quinoa or combo
    – a protein – a bought roast chook is easy, but often i’ll cook some salmon fillets coated with cajun spice
    – vegies of your choice eg edamame beans, tomatoes, capsicum, cabbage.
    – dollop of yoghurt (or some other dressing if you like) so it’s not too dry/

  • Why not take somthing filling like a pasta bake or spagetti or like a version of dinner for lunch

  • When you’re really hungry I would make extra dinner every day and bring a portion with me. Alternatively you could make sourdough sandwiches with a nutritious filling followed by yoghurt with muesli (add seeds and nuts), wraps or multi seeded flat buns, nuts, avocado with egg. Try to add something from each food group (fruit, veggies, protein, diary or substitute, grain)

  • I like a tuna and lettuce wrap.

  • I love soup so always have some veggie soup (either canned or in pouches) in my draw at work. I know its not perfect but it is reasonably priced and full of veggies

  • I take leftovers from the night before or a wrap and a banana or yoghurt. I always keep tuna, nuts, muesli bars etc in my drawer in case I get hungry.

  • Try to avoid bad and unhealthy snacks as they make you hungry. Try for lean meats and veggies for sustained fullness

  • Leftovers from the night before is always filling.

  • I take fruit, yoghurt, nuts, museli or nut bars, muffins for snacks, and things like salad, wraps or sandwiches, left overs from the night before, tuna and beans with rice, quiche, I also have a Tupperware omlet maker so occasionally make omlets in the microwave at work. There’s heaps of different things you can do if you think outside the box.

  • Protein balls for sure. I need a bit of something filing and sweet

  • How about making a sandwich!

  • I used to cook extra for tea and take the leftovers to work. This way, I didn’t have to go out if my way for special lunch preparation, I tend to go for the easiest way

  • I pack salad wraps,(You can add lots of fresh ingredients it make it more fulling ), and fruit

  • I have this same problem. I find soup or pasta great in winter, salads and sandwiches in summer. And snack on myself bars, nuts, fruit or veggies and dip.
