  • As both a parent and a primary school teacher, buy wine! No mugs!! Any home made items that can be used in the classroom such as a candle for the prayer table, little statues etc are great too. And you can never go wrong with chocolates :)

  • Last year I did a back to school pack for my kids teachers which contained pens, blue tack, mints, stickers, glue stick, candle, post it notes, tea, coffee sachets, biscuits, candy canes and a santa tree decoration. I wanted to do something different. Another year I gave them a cactus plant in a christmas theme pot.

  • Last year we organised a class present. We asked parents if they wanted to contribute – there was no obligation too and no set dollar value amount. We ended up with a significant amount which was awesome. We ended up putting together a gorgeous hamper filled with different items (based on her age) which included chocolates, a beautiful Mimico wallet/clutch bag, vouchers to one of local cafe’s, amongst other items. We started organizing it just after term four started.

  • Something that won’t create clutter for them – a fancy tea, for example.

  • Normally try something home made like a slice. Plants can be ok. Always do a home made card to accompany it though.

  • I only ever did the Christmas presents for the kids teachers when they were in primary school because they usually had one main teacher, now they are in high school with multiple teachers we don’t give out presents any more. If I was pressed for time I would buy a bottle of sparkling for female teachers and a bottle of port for the male teachers. You can get a decent bottle for around $10. If I was more organised I would make rocky road or shortbread biscuits and wrap up in nice Christmas cellophane.

  • We like giving plants, something they can use in their garden and they wouldn’t get an abundance of them.

  • Generally chocolate. Sometimes flowers.

  • Always been a bit of a mix – hand made card and small little gift decided by them.
