Hello!

Hi, I went to see a naturopath about my children age 6 and 8. Turned out they need to be wheat and dairy free for 4 weeks. Its not that bad but I’m struggling for ideas to eat breakfast, lunch and snacks during the day. I have very fussy 8yr old boy who would starve. 6 year old is not too bad but giving them fruit everyday is boring for them. I need ideas please as they have 3 weeks to go and looks like it will be a on going thing for them. Reminder soy and rice milk they find disgusting.
thank you..

  • Super easy once youre used to it.
    Meat and veg dinners.
Popcorn, chips, fruit, hommus, rice crackers, dried fruit for snacks.

  • Vegan coconut yoghurt is great.

  • You can pretty much adjust any recipe to be gluten free or dairy free

  • For dairy free – lactose free? you can buy lactose free milk, cheese, cream, yoghurt and even icecream. I know a lady who is lactose intolerant. She has tried several brands and reckons Liddell is the best brand and tastes like the normal ones. I am not a chocolate lover but I have to admit their Icecream is magic. I was told it tastes like expensive Icecream sold in some of the top brand icecream parlors.
Possibly the easiest way may be to use gluten free recipes and substitute ordinary milk for lactose free. Apart from Liddell there are a few other brands and flavours of milk ( -soy, rice and others) mainly UHT(not refrigerated). That means it can be kept in a cupboard until opened. Some brands can be used for 7 days when opened, other cheaper ones about 4 or 5 days.

  • Hi! Have you tried any of the wheat free breads available at the supermarket? You can also get gluten free fruit bread, which is great for a snack. Also, you can substitute gluten free flour for regular flour in a lot of recipes (some cakes are a bit crumbly, but pancakes and pikelets work a treat). There are also heaps of blogs out there with wheat and dairy free recipes (like http://glutenfreemom.com/gluten_free_recipes/dairy_free/#.VLXZQiuUeSo). I hope that helps – good luck!
