  • I don’t think there is ever a right time – most people say around 6 months but it completely depends on your child.

  • When they are about 6 months I think nut if your concerned I recomend asking your local maternal health nurse

  • The best time is when bub shows signs of not being satisfied with just milk. You’ll know the signs when they appear

  • It used to be around the 4-5 months. But some are later and some are earlier. Just follow bubs lead and you’ll be right

  • I think the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) recommends 4 months is when they can be started and reduces risk of allergies. Just ensure they are ready – i.e. good head control, interested etc

  • Let your baby be your guide. Somewhere around 5-6 months is normal, but can be later if they are getting enough nutrition from Breast milk/ formula. Bub may start waking at night very hungry or not be satisfied after a feed. Start with something like farex mixed with breast milk or formula (whichever Bub is used to) . If Bub is ready for solids then he/she will “chew” and swallow. If Bub gags or chokes then leave it for another week and try again. Don’t rush to try lots of different foods. After a couple of weeks on farex you can try mixing in a spoonful of something new (eg mashed banana or pumpkin). Give new foods a couple of days to see if they have any unwanted side effects before trying another new food. You can then gradually introduce soft foods without the farex.

  • When they are ready. if you offer and they don’t open there mouth for the food then that usually means there not ready

  • When bubs ready my first 2, 31/2 months as they were losing weight no3 was 9 months, no 4 was 6 months every child different. Once they stop gagging can start sitting upright, food is for fun under 1

  • At 5 months.

  • You can start between 4 and 6 months. You would start with rice cereal to get them used to eating and it is also less likely that they would be allergic to it
