Hello!

Hi, I have a question. My daughter is 7 1/2 years old and asked me this morning if she could shave her legs. When should girls start shaving their legs? She’s not hairy, has blond leg hairs that are more noticeable in the sun. Wondering what others think! What would they say to their daughters?

  • I’d suggest not until she’s a teenager.

  • Too early I think, but that’s my personal preference, for my daughter I think around puberty – when other things need shaving (armpits etc) – shaving will be introduced.

  • Also; when it is first done; show her and demonstrate as it saves on cut legs!

  • Wait until the teen years.

  • she is way to young to start shaving her legs i would say at last 16 years old

  • Too early wait till she is ten or eleven

  • I think that is a little early to start that.

  • A couple of my friends were 11 when they started, I waited until I was a teenager, I was more interested in just being a kid at that age!

  • That seems really young to me. I didn’t start until I went to high school.

  • when she’s 13 or 14

  • My honest opinion is that it is to young.

  • Its way too young. Maybe try explaning it to her.

  • No way- this is way to young. Wait till puberty at the minimum.

  • I think seven is too young, I am just thinking of letting my 12 years to do her legs now, as the hairs are starting to darken now.

  • My daughter will be 11 in a couple of months and is really starting to be bothered by very hairy legs. They are still blonde, but there are so many that it is really noticeable in any light. We are about to start with the veet cream, then after a while we’ll work up to waxing, which is what I did with my eldest daughter, who is now 14. She started at around 11 also, with cream, then wax, and now she shaves. In her case, having waxed for a good 18 months or so, now that she is shaving her hair is growing back much slower than I would expect, so fingers crossed it works for my younger daughter too.
