  • If you are set on your daughter have her ears pierced, I would say as early as possible to get it over and done with without worrying about it later in life. However, if you want your daughter to decide for her own, I would wait until late primary school or early high school when she has the ability to know if she would like them or not.

  • My mum got my ears pierced when I was 3. I don’t remember it happening and I’ve never had any issues with them. I would of liked to have got my daughters done when she was around 12 months old or a younger age where she won’t touch them. But just never got around to it. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer to it. Just get them done when you feel comfortable and a reputable clean piercer.

  • Teenage years also makes sense because it is an age when they can look after their own ears and clean them.

  • I got my two little girls done at 3 and 4 years. The salon was great and they didn’t even flinch. They made extra effort to accomodate the kids. I chose to do it young as they didn’t feel it and also I looked after them so that they were kept clean etc.

  • Every mum is different on this topic. I have friends who had their babies ears pierced before 6months old, so they couldn’t play with the earrings or rip them out. I’ve got 2 girls and I’m leaving them until they ask me for them.

  • In this day and age it’s probably best to wait until they can have a say. I know decades ago it was popular to get their ears done at 12 months of age but this doesn’t seem to apply now.

  • In the teenage years when they can decide for themselves.

  • Personally I would say as late as possible. And just indeed if they ask for it.

  • When they ask for them

  • I think you should wait and let your daughter decide whether or not she wants her ears pierced.
Regardless of how careful you are cleaning the “wound” there is still the risk of infection. I have seen that. If you do go ahead with it make sure your get stainless steel earrings or studs. A lot of people are allergic to other metals. Your daughter night hate it and let the holes close.
