Hello!

I have so many excellent, near new soft toys that belong to both my kids …and me (yes, I used to have loads but they never got played with – display purposes only!). Charities don’t accept them due to hygiene reasons, so what do I do with them? It seems like such a waste to dump in the bin and none of my friends want anymore soft toys.

Ask your question
  • Some play groups would accept

  • I would try hospitals, kinders, child cares and see if they would like them. Otherwise buy sell swap in your local area for free

  • Sometimes the local women’s shelters or safe houses take these as they are grateful for any donations.

  • Not sure if Salvation army, Vinnies or even the hospitals might like the toy donations. Would just have to check what the rules are these days.

  • I’m not sure about recycling them but my kids have so many and limited space so I got an empty bean bag and filled it with their stuffed toys they don’t use but won’t get rid of so now they sit in their animal stuffed bean bag in their reading nook and I’ve avoided having to fill it with the beans that go everywhere in case they open the bag!
I also looked into donating before and I couldn’t find anywhere that would take anything.

  • Maybe post on your local marketplace on FB and ask where they think you could recycle them. Some people might then want them.

  • I’m suure there are child care centres, kindy’s or schools that would love the donation.

  • Maybe checkout some free giveaway sites?

  • Not sure what you can do with the excess soft toys? Rules have changed with COVID around hygiene etc.
