  • Sorry, can’t be of any help. I never buy birthday cakes, always bake them myself

  • A local cafe in Carlton has amazing cakes for every-one off Lygon st.

  • Following the tread as I’m in Melbourne and as of yet have not found one

  • I usually bake my own..just get a cake mix and lots of different lollies/chocolates to decorate. Cheap and looks great:)

  • Our DD has had the same cake for years and still does – a Freddo Frog ice cream cake from the freezer at Woolies, they’re about $8.00 now – still a bargain as far as cakes go.

  • ask a few friends they may know someone who make great ones at a better price than a store

  • I’m not in Melbourne, but we always get birthday cakes from the Cheesecake Shop, and at around $30 for one of their tortes or gateaus, which serve at least 12 people, they’re pretty good value. If you want to check any smaller bakeries in your area, go to the website womo.com.au (stands for Word Of Mouth Online), click on “Find A Business”, then look at “Shopping & Hobbies” and click on “Bakeries & Cake Shops”. Then you put in your postcode, and up come businesses that have been reviewed by people, and you can see what’s available near you, and what other customers thought of the businesses.
