I was just wondering where people get their fashion advice from and how to keep up to date with out spending a fortune every season buying new clothes.

  • I try to stick with classic styles and then use cheap shirts/ accessories to change things up every couple of seasons. I find Target is great for cheap workwear and also for some great casual gear too.

  • Also, play with different styles and see what you like, have fun!

  • I tend to stick to what I like and how I like to wear, my sister tell me things like “I think you should try this or that or it may suit you better”. So I will try those but it always comes down to how I look in them and how I feel. But these days my 5 year old is my biggest fashion critic. ;-)

  • I have my own style and buy clothes that appeal to my eye. I like clothes with texture and colour. Find and follow your own style and you will always feel comfortable.

  • This is an interesting topic. Looking foward to hearing some interesting responses.
To be honest I mainly shop at Target, Just Jeans and mainly wear basic types of clothes.
Just jeans, nice jumper or shirt. Maybe a nice dress from Target for a special occassion.

  • i keep it simple! I find my advice online and through blogs. Everyone has an opinion on what looks good so decide for yourself. There are vids on youtube as well and you will be able to find runway vids with the latest fashion. When i had pay tv, there was a specific fashion channel. I wouldn’t pay to get told what is in. If you read mags, some will do fashion segments like FAMOUS has one. Check out what your fav celebs or style icons are wearing. This season, the pants, shirt and big jacket is in. Top off with gorg shoes and big sunnies and there you go. Simple is sometimes better. Buy basic wardrobe staples that can be used a lot. Neutral colours are definately in right now!

  • I recently took a huge step and invested in having a “wardrobe consultant” come to my house. She lspent an hour and a half going over my lifestyle and working out the sorts of outfits that I would need to get through a week (business, play with kids, special occasions etc). Then we spen 2 hours with me trying on every item in my wardrobe. We made 3 piles – keep, donate and alter. I dontated or altered 70% of the items that I had.

The cosultant explained to me what cuts and style of clothing were good for my figure and also what colours are best for my skin tone. After the session, she created a list of additional items that I should look out for to make my wardrobe versatile and so I have enough clothes to get me through the week stylishly but not so many that I never wear half of them.
It turned out that I didnt need that much and the great thing is that the seasonal updates are mostly scarves and inexpensive jewelry because we have cosen pretty classic basic items.
I also use Pinterest for ideas.
I know what it feels like to want to look nice again and not just like a washed out mum. Best of luck!

  • Hi,
I recently came across this site : it’s called Hauted and they sell really nice clothes second hand – they always put in the notes what to wear it with and it’s great. They also state if it’s good for certain shapes or figures – http://stores.ebay.com.au/hauted there pinterest is good too – always following trends… https://www.pinterest.com/hautedau/

Hope you find a nice outfit x
