  • We just came back from Adelaide around Xmas and found accommodation in hotels.com.au. The prices would be much cheaper now so look at that . We were in the heart of the city so very convenient .

  • It may depend on your budget. Some of the places mentioned by others are expensive.
I know people who stay at the Caravan Park at West Beach every year. They use it as a central point for their family tomeet and spend quality time with. It is very family friendly. They have beautiful cabins there. Some are suitable for the disabled so they would be better laid out and safer with little ones, including those you have to carry around. We often ate at cafes rather than Motel Dining Rooms. Some of the top places give small servings that cost a fortune. Some dining places are more family friendly than others too. If any of you have special dietary needs I strongly suggest you make detailed enquiries before ordering meals. Some places whereever you go have little idea of the conscequences of cross contamination.

  • We have stayed a few times at the West Beach caravan park which is about twenty minutes out of Adelaide. There is a bus at the front gate and you have easy access to the city and Glenelg . The park is well set out family friendly with nice kids area for little ones. Shopping centre next door for supplies and nice walks to the beach.

  • we stayed at Adelaide hills a few years ago and that was convenient for everything we needed to do. We only stayed for about a week though so we are no Adelaide experts!

  • The Oaks Pier Plaza at Glenelg, they are apartments and right on the beach. An apartment is better with bub, more room and cooking facilities. Glenelg Is a about 15mins from the city and it’s so easy to get around. It is more relaxed in Glenelg and I loved the Oaks.

  • Gleneg is a fantastic spot, specially with parents with young kiddies!!! I grew up there… such a beautiful city. have a fab holiday

  • Depends on what you want to do while you’re here and if you’ll have a car or relying on public transport. If you like city attractions then north Adelaide is good, somewhere like the Majestic Old Lion apartments. It’s very close to the city, but a bit more family friendly. There’s a few great parks in walking distance too.
For beach, Glenelg is good or West Beach holiday Park is excellent. Great activities for the kids and they have lovely cabins and facilities.
If you want to be further out, then adelaide hills is lovely (only 20 minutes drive from the city). Stirling or Hahndorf.
Then off course there’s tourist destinations such as McLaren Vale, Victor Harbor, barossa Valley, Middleton….. So many great spots!

  • I also second Glenelg – good with young families

  • I would say Glenelg. A seaside suburb and only 20 mins via tram to the city. Lots to do for families and really good base.

  • We have stayed at the Adelaide Caravan Park in a cabin. It was only a couple of minutes away from the city, and the park was very nice.

  • AVOID Hindley street and West end of North Terrace all the night clubs are here and very noisy and dingy at night. North Adelaide near O’Connel Street is good as there are lots of restaurants in easy walking distance and supermarket etc all along o”Connel street and you can walk or get bus into main city centre Rundle Mall. there are lots of apartments here and hotels so something for everyones budget
