Here’s a Halloween question…I once heard that if kids are going to eat lollies they are better to do this all in one go rather than me telling them they can only have a couple each day. Apparently its better to get it over with, brush their teeth and get rid of the sugar. What do you think?

  • It might be better for their teeth but its bot better for their stomachs or mums sanity when they get a sugar rush lol

  • It might save their teeth a little but the sugar high is going to be a big one!

  • I have to agree with GEM.

  • I’d rather just just let them have some lollies then get rid of the rest. Lollies aren’t healthy!

  • Ummm… no? Way too much sugar overload!
You’re probably thinking of the situation of having a treat: Eating a treat that takes a couple minutes is better than sucking on a lolly that takes ages to dissolve. The lolly that takes ages allows the sugars to have longer exposure to the teeth.
FYI, don’t brush teeth right away either. The enamel will be softened and you’ll cause further damage. Drink a glass of water and wait a half hour before brushing to allow the enamel to re – harden.

  • Totally agree with Samantha

  • What about the sugar not being good for their diet?? I’d be more concerned about having so many lollies in one hit effecting their diet rather than their teeth. Just make sure they brush their teeth properly after each time.

  • ive never thought about it, its prob better for their teeth to eat all at once but prob not so much their tummys

  • My sister took her son to the dentist and he needed 4 fillings – the dentist told her exactly this – eat more lollies in one go rather than spreading it out over a week. He now has 1 lolly day per week. So according to the dentist – all at once.

  • i would limit what they could have

  • Makes perfect sense to me, although I’ve never heard of it before.

  • They might feel a little sick after eating all at once, so maybe a few here and there as long as they brush their teeth straight after
