Hello!

I feel young in the mind and could take on anything but my body has other ideas. Does everyone else feel like this?

  • Usually, our energy declines because of normal changes. Both genes and environment lead to alterations in cells that cause aging muscles to lose mass and strength and to become less flexible. As a result, strenuous activities become more tiring. Best what you can do is regularly exercise and keep fit, healthy diet and sleep and mental health are also of impact and important

  • Yep. Everything hurts more or is harder to do!

  • Oh my gosh, yes!! It’s so frustrating not bring able to do certain things as easily as I did just a few years ago. It’s also worrying

  • It’s just a part of aging. The older we get, the more our bodies become worn out. I’m noticing so many more hurts lately and I’m also less able to do things that were no issue 5-10 years ago. I’ve taken up weight training. I don’t want huge muscles, just enough to help support me better. Hoping to see benefits soon

  • I too am slowing down as I’m aging.

  • It’s wear and tear, plus you generally ave more responsibilities.

  • MY doctor said to me as you get older , you experience wear and tear so nothing will stay the same . Good advice wasn’t it . It sounds like you might need to have some exercise such as walking or doing something out of the house. I am getting lazy too and even if you can do daily stretches to life those muscles it will help you . Sometimes I feel my bone squeak so I think I am getting paranoid too .

  • No, not in relation to tiredness and age. I do find that I THINK I can do something until I actually try it. Very frustrating. We took mum to the beach one day and she couldn’t get up the sand bank. It wasn’t very big and she got so angry that she couldn’t do it, it didn’t make sense, then she got upset and just cried and cried. The aging process is so distressing for everyone

  • yeah it is life hey. just enjoy it and don’t stress about it. try to keep happy and healthy

  • Absolutely. I want to bound around like a dear, but my back has degenerated and continues to do so more with each year. Some days at work I’m in agony, I ache all over.

  • I think everyone suddenly gets into their fifties and thinks ” how the hell did I get here”!, life goes by so fast, we have lots of energy when we are younger, just don’t think about it but just do it. As you get older you eat less so you do not get the nutrients required for energy, also your circulation slows down , so your body is not getting the same amount of oxygen bearing , read blood cells as so we tire more easily with this as well. You also find you don’t seem to sleep as much even though you might want to , so this makes you tired also. Basically your body just really slows down, no matter how fit and healthy you once were, I found when I was nursing the older people who had more energy and were active, where those that had friends and family, were involved in charities, played sports like bowls, or swimming, yoga, tai chi etc. If you just sit around the house and do nothing , then all you do is feel tired. Its just a pain getting older, the clue is, stay active, keep a good diet, drink water, have friends and family around , and laugh often.

  • I’m still fairly active and strong (early 50’s) and recently painted the interior of my house, but I know that when it needs repainting in say 5 – 10 years, I may not be able to do it.

  • I actually get by with less sleep!

  • No – feel about the same. More sleep would be good! :)

  • Yes definately feeling so aged
