I understand that the occurence of cradle cap is quite common in babies. Is there a known reason why this happens?

  • I believe it is because of skin getting dry and cracking. I would moisturise after a bath/shower

  • yeah it is totally harmless. so just extra skin cells hey, ok.

  • I think it’s a build up of skin cells. Some babies are not so good at skin shedding so it builds up and cradle cap is one result. It’s very unsightly but does go away with time, faster with treatment, and there’s a few treatments available for it

  • yeah i am not sure why but it is harmless.

  • Not sure why but all of my girls got it and we used olive oil to help get rid of it

  • The skin on a baby’s scalp is often very dry and can become very think. It won’t flake off like dandruff. Also when you wash baby’s hair use a soap free moisturinng preparation. That will help clear it up and may prevent a recurrence. Some babies have it on their eyebrows too. Not sure of the of the best or safest remedy for that area.
Older children can get it too. One cause if they don’t rinse the shampoo out of their hair properly and it sticks to and affects the skin on their scalp. It doesn’t flake off either.
