Hello!

My 4 year old daughter has been potty trained since she was 3, she now keeps wetting herself and doesn’t even care! I’ve tried disciplining her with time out or taking away a toy. I’ve tried a sticker reward chart, I’ve tried ignoring it and telling her she needs to change herself when it happens. With kinder fast approaching I am losing my patience, Dr check up regarding a UTI has also been fine.

  • Perhaps she has a big stress in her life? Watch her other behaviours… Also, maybe she is just so busy, she forgets, then the urge is incredibly strong so she wets herself?
I would try popping pull ups on her, and see if that makes her think gosh, I want to be a big girl and not wear them> good luck x

  • May be to get attention! or she maybe upset about something. If health ok (I would do second check just in case) At this age also pushing boundaries so NO”S do not work unfortunately. Say maybe we should put you in nappies again?see what she says. all the best

  • June11 is so correct. Little ones do get too busy and can become lazy and need reminding and sometimes . She may have a very weak bladder, the sphincter muscle may not be working as well as it aught to. I suggest you have her checked again by your doctor to rule out medical causes. Apart from that, keep reminding her. Does she stay dry at night? It is very frustrating, she maybe just not paying attention to her body signals. Hang in there, at Kinder, they all have regular toilet time and this may help her get into a routine.

  • Is she so busy concentrating on playing with her toys or reading a book that she forgets to go? Or is she just lazy and waits until the last minute top go then can’t hand on for long enough? You may need to make her go to the toilet every hour or two. We went through this stage and process. A couple of times one of them said “no thank you”, then sat down on the back door step. When she got up and walked away I discovered the step was wet. I took her inside and made her sit on the toilet while I got clean clothes for her. In that time she had used the toilet. At 7y.o. we still have to push her to go to the toilet at times. We literally keep check of when she goes to the toilet. She has wet my new carpet but she did at least tell her Mum. Her grandparents remind her to go to the toilet which is good.
