Hello!

Hi, I would like to ask the MoM’s what their experiences are with loud toddlers. My son is very vocal, but doesn’t seem to have an in between volume. He can be either silent (or very quiet) or extremely loud and nothing in between! I just wanted to know if others have experienced this and if so, how did they encourage their children to talk quietly?? I am guessing that it is a phase, but wondered if anyone had an tips! Thanks

  • Aren’t they all? If only there was an off switch. Or mute button. ;)

  • I would suggest having his hearing tested. If his hearing is not great, it would affect his loudness

  • Its normal. My two children are very loud.

  • Great answers thank you everyone

  • Toddler phase, I always had an indoor voice and outdoor voice, and when things got a bit loud I would just say Inside voice please and this eventually worked, I also spoke very softly so that if my child wanted to hear me they had to be quiet, they learnt this very quickly, but it does pass, best to just not try and out yell them, I even used to just mouth words and my twins would go quiet because they thought they were missing out on something!!

  • yeah that is the phase i’m in now and it is very loud around here

  • I think its just a toddler phase. They will learn not to be so excitable and loud eventually.

  • has he had his hearing checked? he may not know that he is being loud

  • My kids preschool uses a technique called “inside voices” which teachers young children to talk more softly whilst inside.

  • mine is very loud all the time!!

  • Any luck with getting him to quieten down?

  • maybe have his hearing tested?

  • how did it turn out?

  • Has he settled down any?

  • Lets hope its just a phase
