  • Ypu are starting a new role so a bit of anxiety is normal. I’d see a GP if it doesnt go away after 2 weeks.
Allow yourself some time after work to de-stress. Sit in the car alone for 10 minutes , write a musical, whatever makes you happy.

  • Initially it will be hard, but after a time you will settle down. The important thing is to set boundaries, and make sure that you don’t have a full time work load. I know a lot of mothers who work part time but are basically doing a full time job so have to work late and night and still only get paid for being part time. I straight up told my boss that I will not be checking emails on my days off or when I leave work, and he was fine with it.

  • Try not to be too hard on yourself. It’s such a juggling act and the first few months are definitely the hardest trying to get into the swing of things. Try and pre pack lunches/bags etc the night before and if it gets a bit much sometimes it’s OK to take a personal day to regroup ????

  • I returned to work 3 days a week after my eldest was born. I found it way more stressful than working full time. Trying to catch up on company emails, company changes and work load was crazy. I also felt i wasnt as valued as I was when full time. Good luck, hopefully it qill get easier.

  • If you feel stressed maybe try having natural stress remedies and taking five to meditate if you can or a moment if mindfulness

  • Thanks for giving me your advice.

  • if you had a good relationship with your boss I’d discuss if there is a way to distribute your work load. or you could way up your options and see whether you stay in the job or seek an alternative.

  • Consider speaking with your manager and expressing your concerns, is it the work load, the actual job or the balance stressing you out? Part time work is tough and will take time to settle (from both you and work place). Good luck

  • I find a lot of part time people seem to get more work than the hours they do. Easy to say but try not to worry about it you can only do what you can only do and they might adjust your workload if you are being expected to fit 4 or 5 days work into 3.
