Hello!

How are you all feeling about travelling (or even leaving the house) with this awful Coronavirus around?
We have a cruise booked (just a local) one in a few weeks but I can’t help being worried (I saw in the news 6,000 people on board a cruise ship had to stay on board with a suspected Coronavirus case ????).
Are you still travelling or are you thinking of cancelling your holidays? What about going to the mall? I don’t want to become obsessed and I know we can’t keep ourselves and kids in a bubble but I am concerned. Would love to hear your views!

  • I havent been travelling at all since covid started. mega expensive to get to certain countries overseas now.

  • We’ll be travelling within our State. I probably won’t cruise again for a while.

  • yes i have canceled my trip

  • I notice you commented that your cruise is a local one. I guess you are not visiting any islands that are classed as overseas apart from maybe Norfolk Island. Many cruise ships are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected every day. Staff were standing at the entrance / exit of dining areas and putting antibacterial hand cleaner on one hand for us to spread onto the other one. If we had 2nd serves of any food we had to use clean plates and cutlery, not re-use the first set. I am not sure if that applies to all cruise line companies.

  • I wouldn’t be travelling anywhere at the moment as I am immunocompromised and if I caught it i’d be done in

  • There seem to now be warnings up on many travel sites and when booking accomodation which is good for informing people about the virus.

  • I follow the advice of Smart Traveller when travelling. I do not plan to cancel travel unless advised but do take advice and precautions. The site is worth looking at and may help to address concerns about travel.

  • I have been watching all this about the Corona Virus and most of the travel people I have heard from say if you or the ship are not going to China you should be okay. People do tend to panic it is said that there are certain places not to travel too and your travel agent would know of this.

  • I feel it doesn’t matter where you travel too, with so many people going through airports and on cruise ships, you don’t know what germs they are carrying – I’m planning on staying home until everything settles!

  • I would only cancel a trip to China where it is more prevalent. Anything else I would still go.

  • Just today I’ve heard that in Japan they stopped a cruise boat because ten people on board have Coronavirus. So now the all ship has been quarantined. Terrible!

  • I am going on a cruise with hub this thursday to Moreton Island and its only for a few days . I will bring a paint mask just in case . We can’t cancel so only hope that everything stays clean ! They say most important is really keeping hands clean esp before and after you eat . Stay away from people coughing .

  • Terrible that travel insurances are creating problems.
Every day something new happens. At my daughter’s school you are not allowed to go to school for 14 days if you have been to China. Any region of China. The problem is getting bigger and bigger. I go on with my normal life but there is always something at the back of my mind.

  • At this stage I would cancel and not take any changes until it stabilises. Best to always err on the side of caution.

  • Living normally – just wouldn’t go to those affected areas
