Hello!

I am a big baby swaddler but just watched a video interviewing a professional baby sleep expert and she doesn’t swaddle and all the babies she helps ends up sleeping through within a week of her training and by 8 weeks old. I was quite surprised as I thought swaddling was a big yes to help baby sleep but not for her!
So.. do you guys swaddle or not swaddle? And did you experience your baby sleeping through by not swaddling?
Very interested to finding out!

  • Only with my youngest I did a bit of swaddling but only when she was restless and wouldn’t settle.

  • i think it depends on your bubs – if the baby settles better with swaddling I would keep it up. these shows are opinion based and not everything will work for every child. do what is right for you!

  • I did for a week but bub said no but if he liked it I would have continued.

  • I swaddled my son and by 12 weeks he was sleeping 12 hours a night. However i continued to swaddle him in a zip up swaddle and believe this actually delayed his movement as he couldnt roll or get up on his knees. as soon as we stopped the swaddle he started crawling.

  • We didn’t swaddle either of ours. Both of them fought to get their arms loose. They both slept with their hands up level with their heads, especially the eldest. It became a family joke. It looked like “I surrender”. Apparently It is dangerous to swaddle your baby too tightly around their hips.

  • I use the love to dream zip up swaddles for my newborns and they love it. It reminds them of being in the womb and they find it conforting

  • Swaddling was great for one of mine and the other one hated being wrapped. I think it depends on the baby.

  • We swaddled from birth. It is great for consistency especially when staying with family as our bub knows it’s bet time.

  • I swaddled at night but not so much during the day. I always swaddled with their arms up, as i had a midwife say to me that ‘wouldn’t i be uncomfortable with my arms down by my sides all night?’ To me most babies are more comfortable with their arms up, so i got those sleeping bags that allowed them to do that. My first son slept through the night at 13 weeks, my second son at 9 weeks – so it worked for us!

  • Just like BellaB – we had little wigglers!

  • My wiggly babies never stayed swaddled, so no useful advice here, sorry.

  • My son was sleeping through by 10 weeks and was swaddledfor as long as we could.

  • I dont know i feel like my baby is so used to be being swaddled at night thay its a routine that she knows its time to sleep

  • No swaddling – bubs did not like it.
