  • We are all different and its good for your children to form their own ideas and opinions about things. You cant force them to have the same values as you but you can try and steer them in the right direction.

  • I think if values differ from somebody else then conflict can occur. Ensuring that the whole family has the same values ensures that everybody in the household is happy and on the same page.

  • This video has sat with me for a day. I’m a big fan of having family values, and loved how well you explained the need to be explicit. I have not ever thought about fostering individual values in my child, he is only 10 months. In some ways it takes the pressure off trying to ensure my values are shared, we can have shared values but he’s allowed to have his own! I hope we inspire him to have good ones :)

  • To be caring, to not say bad things about another person and to be honest were the things our family cared about. I always said to my children, that you can forgive many things because people can change and be nicer and kinder, but if you are not honest, then how can anyone trust you? My kids are great and live good well adjusted lives today and they are always there ready to help each other and their friends and neighbours.
