More heartbreaking detail on the last days of little Mason’s life.

*This story contains distressing content.

Yesterday we shared details on the tragic final moments of little Mason Jet Lee’s life.

The toddler found dead in a Queensland home was covered ‘head to toe’ in injuries and endured ruptured intestines for several days before he died.

His mother, Ann-Marie Lee, 27, his step-father, William O’Sullivan, 35, and Ryan Hodson, 17, are charged with manslaughter.

Police allege they failed to provide Mason with medical treatment despite his obvious injuries, and are yet to determine how the injuries were caused.

Police prosecutor Aaron Murray told the court Mason was found with bruising to most of his body, and that “it would be impossible for any person not to be cognisant… to the extent of those injuries”.

Detective Inspector Paul Schmidt said police had not yet established how Mason’s injuries were caused.

“Police will be alleging that the child died as a result of peritonitis due to a ruptured duodenum,” he said.

“The injuries would have been obvious, would have been deteriorating and would have been significant over a period of time leading up to his death.”

The teen charged with his manslaughter allegedly taunted him before his death and was aware that he had been vomiting for five days, a court has heard.

“[Mr Hodson] was aware the child had been vomiting for five days straight,” Mr Murray said.

9 NEWS reports, the police case also includes audio recordings from the home where Mason died, and the court heard that Mr Hodson allegedly insulted Mason in the days before his death.

“Mason, shut up —-,” Mr Hodson can allegedly be heard saying.

“Come on —-, you walk like a spastic.”

Mother scared of abusive partner denied bail

Ann Maree Lee was denied bail during a hearing at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on the basis she was flight risk and may interfere with witnesses.

Magistrate Graham Lee said there was an unacceptable risk of Lee failing to appear before court again and denied her bail.

“In balancing all considerations, you have no history, [but] this is a very, very serious case,” he said.

“It seems the crown case is reasonably strong.”

ABC reports, the court heard she was in an abusive relationship with a man who refused her contact with her child in the lead up to his death.

During the application, Lee’s lawyer Brad Skuse said his client was scared of O’Sullivan and was planning to leave him, which he knew.

UPDATE

7 News report, the stepfather sent the boy’s mother a sickening photo of him lying face down in “volumes of vomit” inside a Brisbane home before he died, a court heard.

It has been revealed in court that Lee was sent a text message by her son’s step-father showing the boy lying in bed surrounded by “volumes of vomit” just one day before he died, The Courier Mail reports.

The matter was adjourned until a hearing at Caboolture Magistrates Court on August 16.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

  • Even if she wasn’t allowed to see her son, when she received that awful photo why didn’t she go straight to the police. Better still, when he wouldn’t let her see her son why didn’t she get the police involved then. We’re talking about her son. I wouldn’t have cared about the consequences for me if it meant saving my son.

  • Poor little Mason. This story is so sad. :-(

  • No prior history because little Mason was never taken to a Dr. or hospital when he was sick/injured. It’s inhumane to treat anybody like that.
(Most pets are treated better than that)

  • He was vomiting for 5 days he should have been taken to hospital,he was totally neglected.
