Time magazine caused quite a stir with their cover in May 2012.

Davina wrote on her cover…

“We’re all mom enough… to respect the choices of other parents. So why are we so scared and judgemental of the choices others make that have no effect on us?”

Go super mum!  That is one pretty massive achievement. Well done.

  • Each to their own. I 100% wouldnt see the need for my photo to be splashed across the internet while breast feeding though. Its natural….yes. But so is pooping and peeing and I wouldnt want photos of me doing that either.

  • I am not sure that I could or would feel comfortable breastfeeding my child until the age of 4… However I acknowledge that it is a very personal choice. I think I would be comfortable to feed until the age of 2. Good on these ladies for their choices and putting themselves out there for the cause.

  • Not for me but it is definitely her right to breastfeed till whatever age the child is. I wonder what is the oldest age of a breast fed child is on record. Be interesting to know that.

  • Breast or bottle – it should not matter. It will be a wonderful day when it does not matter and when it does not make the news and is just normal.

  • The truth of the matter is that the children wanted to breast feed for that long and the mother was able to do so – Good on her – her choice is her choice and her children’s choice. Mine didn’t want to continue beyond 1 year, and they showed it, so that was the end.

    • Exactly – we should all be able to make our own choices.

  • I breastfed one of my sons until 4.5yrs and we use to get flack. Even when I was in hospital delivering my fourth child and I was dual breastfeeding nurses would even be shocked. I believe there is still a stigma surrounding breastfeeding even though there has been so much education. Out of four children my child that has breastfed the longest has no allergies (like the others) no asthma(like the others) and very rarely gets sick. It doesn’t prevent but I believe it truly assists to bolster the child’s immune system. I am glad I b/fed for so long even though it is time consuming but trust me the gets easier. Dual feeding also stopped the horrible feeling of the milk coming in or any mastitis.

  • It looks so exhausting to me! :-) But she liked breastfeeding for so long, her kids apparently too. So.. happy for her! :-)

  • As a mother of triplets, I can say it was virtually impossible to breastfeed newborn triplets, let alone do it for such a ridiculously long time! This woman is seeking attention. As mothers we want to ensure our children grow up happy, healthy and well adjusted. Now that is an achievement , not promoting yourself!
