Mum heartbroken to hear her little boy constantly saying “he is such a bad boy.”
One mum has turned to us for advice on how to reassure her son he is not a BAD boy!
Posting on MoM answers mom62894 shared, “My son is 7 and recently has starting saying “I hate” and “mumma I’m such a bad boy”.
We don’t know where it’s come from and I’m so shocked I’m not sure what to say, we always reassure him that he is wonderful and caring so it isn’t coming from home, school maybe?”
MoM’s offer advice
One of our helpful MoM’s shared, “My heart goes out to you and your gorgeous son. My gut feeling is that it is coming from school. You might want to make an appointment with his teacher if it continues in the new school year. If u are a religious family, could it come from the concept of “sin” that he hears about at church or at a Christian school?”
One mum suggested simply asking why he thinks he is so bad.
Another said, “I too would try to get to the bottom of where it came from so you can help understanding the root cause.”
Another mum wrote, “At 7 in my opinion someone has been telling him his a bad boy maybe ask his teacher how he has been at school lately? Her reply should tell you if it is her saying it or not.”
What advice would you offer this mum?
