Obviously the Mum was given a letter by the professional person who cut the boy’s hair. If your hair is very thick it is often cut a little thinner to get the bulk out of it so it doesn’t stick out. It may not have have been intentional on the part of the Mum or son.

I think we should know better what the rules are. A lot of private schools have very “weird” rules, that you indeed “accept” the moment you send your kid there.
Anyway, that boy’s haircut looks fine to me.

Lets be fair – both the child and the parents signed a contract with the school about appearance including hair cuts, piercings ect… now she is complaining that there were ramifications of breaching that contract?

for girls the contract can even include limitations to the colour of bras worn – it’s a choice (an expensive choice) that people make to send kids to these schools… if it was a public, non selective school this would be nuts however int he context of the private school it’s totally reasonable to teach kids to know what they are signing up to and that there are indeed consequences to breaking ones contracts.

Ridiculous !! Super short or super long, the school should not be allowed to decide about the hairstyle ! At the school from our kids they’re luckily more tolerant, there are boys with long hair and with very short with stripes and curls shaved and even here and there coloured. And so it should be.

Oh for heaven’s sake, aren’t there more serious issues in our schools than how long or short a kid’s hair cut is? Give my child an education – you know, reading, writing and ‘rithmetic!!

absolutely ridiculous! There are a lot of bad haircuts around but a short back and sides isn’t usually one of them!

My sons school exactly the same nothing below a number 2 and if he does he has to go to lunch time detention every day until his hair grows back to an acceptable length. It’s written in the school rules section of their diary so they cannot react and pretend they didn’t know of this rule when they are caught out.

It does seem very silly! Long hair use to be an issue but not short hair!
