Mum of three shares a letter to her children dropping a few home truths that we can all take a lesson from.

Fiona Coble from Rock Star Mums Drink Champagne is a busy mum to Maclean 10, Molly 8 and Memphis 7. She has shared some words of wisdom that we can actually all relate to and we thought you would appreciate reading.

A letter of truth bombs to my kids.

“Dearest Children of mine,

Here’s a few things I really need you to know:

EVERYTHING IN LIFE NEEDS TO BE EARNED.

This includes respect, friendship and loyalty. You need to work hard in school and in life to receive these things.

YOU DON’T GET AN AWARD FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO

Putting out the garbage, not peeing on the toilet seat or participating in a sport are things that you should do without expectation.
These are things that build character and will make you a decent little human.
If you want an award, do something amazing and Mum will give you an extra big hug.

ALWAYS BE KIND

Kindness is contagious and feeling good comes from giving away free samples of your beautiful nature.
If kids are a-holes to you or your friends, be resilient and protect your heart.
Just understand there’s something in these kids that make them sad enough to be mean to others. Feel sorry for them and step away.
I know you won’t believe it, but one day their heart will understand the word regret.

BE BRAVE

Get the words “I can’t” out of your mind.
Indeed you might not be able to, but unless you really give it a try how will you know?
You might even surprise yourself.

DANCE AND SING

It doesn’t matter if you have no rhythm or sound like a dying cat. It’s never stopped your parents and you know how happy we are when we rock out in the kitchen!
Have fun by yourself and when there’s people watching.

KNOW THAT YOUR MUM AND DAD WILL ALWAYS DO THE BEST WE CAN FOR YOU

You might not have the fanciest clothes, biggest house or European holidays… but know you’ll be loved with two ridiculously ferocious hearts for the rest of your life.
Not a bad thought hey?

Now for the fifth time, go and clean your room before mummy loses her sh*t!

Love Mum”

  • That’s good parenting there. I try to instill some of these ideals in my kids too. Especially the, you won’t get an award just for showing up to work! I also really dislike my kids saying they can’t do something without even giving it a solid try!

  • If you are flying or cruising make sure the staff on the services are notified of dietary needs when booking and again a few days before. Ask them to notify you if they are unable to cater for the needs. If they are unable to help you get a letter from your GP and take commercially sealed food with you. They cannot refuse to allow you take food on board a plane, bus or cruise ship. If travelling overseas check if there is any food that is not allowed there.

  • The only thing left out was to have manners and respect for your mum.

  • Haha, I love this… and particularly the end. Great words of wisdom from one Mum to others. Words I think we should all live by.

  • Lovely words of wisdom! I’m sure most of us could do with these reminders occasionally not just the kids!

  • I love the way she said you don’t get an award for everything, be brave, be kind. Lot’s of great advice her kids will appreciate when they are older.

  • Wonderful advice! Too many kids seem to feel too entitled for everyday chores and events.
