Natalie McCain from The Honest Body Project shares the story of one woman’s amazing c-section journey.

“I was so amazed by her willingness to be photographed with her staples, only a few days after her C-section,” Natalie explains.

“Her story has gotten feedback from so many other C-section mothers who say the pictures and story made them feel much better about their own scar, which I am so grateful for, said Natalie.”

Mum of three, Jacqueline suffers from an aggressive form of endometriosis, she wasn’t sure if she could even get pregnant.

“When I was 24, doctors found that my left ovary was extremely enlarged. This led to months of tests, doctors, oncologists, and surgery,” Jacqueline shared. “I have a family history of ovarian cancer and they couldn’t tell exactly what it was, or why it was growing so fast. My surgery ruled out cancer and I was diagnosed with aggressive endometriosis. I have a scar from my belly button to my pelvic bone, one less tube and ovary, and what tissue the doctors couldn’t get out.”

“This body that has seen surgeries, tumors, three C-sections, and incredible loss didn’t fail me one bit,” she says. “My baby is alive, I’m alive, and no scar or procedure will take that away from me. The scar that almost determined my future dead ends at the scar that gave me my future.”

Such a precious photo to keep forever!

  • Congratulations on your scars and your willingness to share same. I have many scars also, but for other reasons after childbirth but before the days of sharing on social media.

  • Amazing mum – and rightly so! I have severe endometriosis too and many scars from many surgeries. Scars tell a story- certainly nothing to be ashamed of or hide away. Shows what I and my body have been through and I too was lucky enough to conceive despite my endometriosis. Every tummy scar I have shows what I’ve been through to get my kids. Well done to this mumma for proudly showing her scar.

  • Well done Natalie and all the very best to you and your family.
I don’t have a C-section scar but I do have a huge scar that runs from one side of my tum to the other and I now do not have a belly button. Multiple surgeries but ok now and no belly button fluff to have to worry about. lol
All the very best to all that have scars …wear them with pride. xx

    • I have many scars too and I just have to let you know that your no belly button fluff comment made me smile! :) Good to look in the positive side of things! ;)

  • I didn’t have a C-section, but I love the honesty of this photo and what it represents. That tummy housed a baby for 9 months and by choice or medical reasons, a C-section was required. I think this photo is beautiful.

  • Great attitude and stunning indeed !
I do have a shot of my C-section scar, but it’s not as beautiful as this one.
Although you can’t see at my scar that it’s a classical section, the outer skin was cut vertically but the inner layers and womb was cut horizontally.

    • Well done Ellen your scar is lovely and so are you.
