Mum shares how she reached down to place her hands on her baby boy and welcome him into the world for the very first time.

Australian QLD mum of four, Sarah Toyer, shared how baby Spencer was born by caesarean section in Jan 2017 and urges other mothers to ‘stick to your guns about the birth you want’.

‘I wanted to share to let other mums know there’s always another way to birth even if you have to have a C-section,’ Mrs Toyer told Daily Mail Australia.

Mrs Toyer, who also has three other children, Jay, Ruby, Wyatt, posted details of her experience to the Facebook page Birth Without Fear, alongside the incredible images which were taken by her husband Joseph,

‘When I discovered I was pregnant I was determined to have a maternal assisted c-section!’ she wrote.

‘I talked to every midwife, doctor, and surgeon about what I wanted to do, but they all said it would depend on the surgeon on call that day.

‘So, when the day came along we waited eight hours at the hospital, then I was standing there next to the surgeon scrubbing up just as she was,’ she said.

‘Maybe half an hour later I was lying on the operating table watching my son’s head being pulled from my womb.

‘I reached down and put my hands under his arms and lifted the rest of him out of my own body. It was the most incredible thing I have ever done.’

The experience moved Mrs Toyer so much, she urged other women to be firm about the kind of birth they wanted.

‘I highly recommend you stick to your guns about what birth you want!’ she concluded her post.

Meanwhile in Kentucky, Photographer Sarah Hill shared an amazing experience she recently shared her amazing midwife

“This was by far one of the most incredible days of my life. My amazing midwife, Emily Dial, not only had a C-section, but SHE PULLED THE BABY OUT HERSELF!

It was unreal. To say that she is amazing, is an understatement. She was meant to bring babies into this world and didn’t let a little thing like a C-section stop her from delivering her own.

“Emily calmly reached down and began to pull the baby from her belly. I was amazed at how smoothly she came out, like just another day on the job for Emily! She pulled her all the way out and brought her up to where she could see what it was. A girl!! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room!”

  • Is this safe? Can hardly say she delivered it herself when there is a team of people helping and guiding her

  • Beautiful !
This should be possible for all of us.
Even placing mirrors in theater so I could see everything was not done and not easy to make happen.

  • I had two caesars and wasn’t allowed to do that in either of mine. I would have loved to.

  • Not something I would be keen on doing. Best to leave tgese sorts of things to the professionals

  • All well and good if your doctor says its safe and agrees. But I wouldn’t be encouraging women to go against best medical advice in any circumstances, certainly not just so they can have the birth they want.
