Mum shares the realities of giving birth via caesarean… it is most certainly not the ‘easy way out.’

Vanessa Lewis Yeomans, 44, posted on her Facebook page on Monday after giving birth to her third baby.

‘When you have had a baby physically twisted inside you three times in two days,’ Ms Lewis Yeomans wrote.

‘Then laboured on your feet to try and push baby out naturally only to have to face your biggest fear of being cut open while you are aware of it and having baby ripped out of your insides whilst an audience smile at you.

‘Your bowels and bladder are then moved in order to get at said baby. Just another day at the office. Oh and then to add insult to injury they give you ibuprofen and paracetamol to go home with as pain relief, tell you to breast feed and carry the baby as normal.’

Ms Lewis Yeomans said if a ‘single person says having a baby is easy’ she may just be ‘prone to strangling them with my bare hands.’

‘That is if my hands would close properly due to the side effects of the spinal they gave me. If I say something to offend. Tough. I’m hormonal and ready to kill,’ she concluded.

‘Warrior woman on the edge.’

Speaking to Daily Mail after returning home with her baby, Ms Lewis Yeomans opened up about why she shared the post and said her two previous births were relatively smooth.

‘I have had a fear of knives and operations all my life which has led to panic attacks at times,’ she said.

‘My C section has some amazing stories of fantastic surgeons and mid wives who helped me get through the immediate trauma of those early stages and now I’m on day three four which is the recovery.

‘Or should I say the waking up of my body to find nothing is the same and everything hurts like hell.

‘No one tells you that having a C section is like someone rummaging around inside your body like a posh handbag to find their favourite perfume and messing up its organised state of well being in order to get that baby out.’

  • Natural birth is the way to go if you can – had one emergency C-section and boy so pleased to have a natural birth afterwards.

  • Not only the situation above, there is other issues involved. Not everybody have an electric clothes dryer. How do you get your washing dry when you aren’t allowed to lift your arms high enough to reach the line? You can put small light things on clothes airers. You definitely need help with that and similar chores.

  • I’ve had 2 c-sections. One was an emergency and the second was planned late in pregnancy due to complications. The hardest thing, for me, about having a c-section was the guilt I felt about not delivering naturally. I felt that I was less of a mum as I wasn’t able to deliver naturally. I am over this now and really it doesn’t matter how the baby comes into the world, as long as it is healthy. But honestly, I wouldn’t have felt this guilt if I had not attended pre natal classes as it was here that the midwives kept impressing upon us that natural was the best way to give birth and that we should avoid any intervention. I get that natural is best… but my baby would not have survived if I hadn’t had a c-section and I shouldn’t feel guilty about that.

  • Ive been lucky enough to have 3 children and each time I was fearful that something would happen and i would have to have a C section. Thankfully that never happened. I dont understand those that dare to say its the easy way out…..it was my worst nightmare and im so glad i never had to face it.

  • Birth regardless of the style of delivery can be fraught with peril. My births were an ordeal, however I never compared them to any other style of birth as it is pointless and a waste of positive energy and space.

  • I have had 2 caesars and 2 “natural” births, natural is definitely the easier option! The pain from a caesar (emergency for my first) was horrible and lasted close to 6 weeks, I couldn’t do anything for myself including going to the toilet! The second was also and emergency but not as severe as the first so it was a much easier time, pain didn’t last as long but still wasn’t allowed to do anything!

  • I have never ever considered a C section to be the easy way out. I have 3 tiny scars from having my appendix out, that hurt, I would not want to experience a C section
