**TRIGGER WARNING** This may be a sensitive topic for some readers.

This mum would love your help she is terrified that she may be suffering an ectopic pregnancy.

“I found out very early on that I am pregnant. My doc had me do 2 blood tests, 3 days after each other. The first one showed hcg level of 46 and 3 days later hcg rose to 66.

“My doctor has a suspicion that this is an ectopic pregnancy as he said after 3 days it should be over 100?

“I’m terrified for my baby’s life. So he ordered me to do an urgent ultrasound, but because I was still early (2-3 weeks) baby couldn’t be found.

“Any fellow mums had an ectopic scare before? And for those affected by ectopic pregnancies, how early on did you show physical signs and how did you cope?

Mums share their own experiences

Our wonderful network of women have desperately tried to ease this worried mums mind by sharing their own stories.

Kayla shared, “I think that because you are super early in your pregnancy the levels are low. Normally you would get the bloods at 5-6 weeks and you are only half that so maybe that’s why the reading is so low.”

Danni said, “Honestly my bloods came back the same, so my Dr said I’m not pregnant or was having a miscarriage, I also have PCOS and have a higher risk of miscarriage.. I now have a 3.5yr old…”

Cindy shared, “I had no idea I was pregnant until I had lower abdominal pain that slowly got worse. At 2am I called an ambulance and thinking it wasn’t anything serious, I waited 2hrs for it to arrive (sat night). I got to hospital around 5am and was in surgery by 11am. My tube had ruptured so badly, my angel was free floating in my abdomen and sucked up with the internal bleeding. The only positive I can take is that there was no longer a heartbeat. I was 6 weeks.”

Tracey shared, “This happened to me! Found out incredibly early and everything pointed to ectopic….Our perfectly healthy boy just turned 6 months old. Give it a few more weeks.”

Another mum agreed, “I was 5 weeks and only 150 so would have been super low at 2-3. Had another blood 2 days after and still not happy but they rose so we waited and all was good. Bubs is 6m now.”

Another mum said, “In your early stages of pregnancy your hcg should be higher in the 100s 200s 300s etc. I had an ectopic, in the ultrasound only the sack could be seen, this was 6/7 weeks, I had to go to a bigger hospital just incase I had to get key hole surgery but because I wasn’t in any pain they said the baby would have passed by itself. Had to go back for bloods 2 days later and hcg levels lowered.”

  • I know a Mum who did. The baby was forming outside the womb and she had to have a curette etc. to remove it. It was between two healthy pregnancies.

  • With one of my miscarriages they feared it was ectopic cause of a huge amount of bleeding, turned out it wasn’t. But I understand the fear.

  • I didn’t even know I was pregnant at the time, I was very young and I started bleeding even though I wasn’t due for my period and I had bad pains on my left side. I did a pregnancy test and it was positive. My mum took me to hospital and they did an ultrasound straight away then rushed me into surgery. It was stuck in my fallopian tube. I would have been only 4 weeks pregnant.

  • It sounds like she has good medical care, which is important either way.

  • I am very fortunate to not have had a scare like this. I really hope those who said low levels can be normal are right and her baby is fine. Heartbreaking.
