Mum shares her check list for the kids before interrupting her shower time.

An Adelaide mother has shared a check list of rules to try and stop her kids interrupting her shower time!

The sign asks her kids “Before you knock on the door ask yourself these questions first…. “is someone dying?” or “is someone bleeding a lot?”, “does someone need an ambulance?” and they’re only allowed to enter if the answer is yes!

Love it!  I think all parents can relate to this. Every time we want some peace and quiet in the shower or toilet someone desperately needs us.

What would your check list say?

  • Before I would shower I would make sure the kids were all settled and leave my husband to look after them. I would just step into the shower and all hell would break out. I ended up going nuts at my husband and asking why this was happening every darn night. Amazing….after that the house was silent when I would shower. For some reason he was the issue and not the kids.

  • Awesome, will have to try this if my youngest still yells at me over the sound of the shower.

  • We’re not at reading age yet so we just have to deal with it for a while longer.

  • I had a good chuckle at this, that’s fantastic!

  • WRITING it down. Maybe that’s where I went wrong. I’ve tried boundaries for the bathroom and when I’m on the phone and thought when the kids got bigger it would get better. It seems their perception of urgent just changes.

  • What a fantastic check list. I’m definitely going to use this to get some quality time in the bathroom. Good idea for the toilet as well.

  • Be smart and have your bath or shower when you know the kids are asleep and not likely to wake up within a few minutes. The toilet is a lot harder. Trouble is you need to know what mischief little ones get into while you are in there if they are crawling or walking around. It’s even harder when they start running around.

    • I agree, I have one while everyone is in bed asleep

  • Wishful thinking. It is usually the younger ones who catered that follow you in!

  • I take a bath / shower in the night or very early morning, when no-one is awake.

  • Yes. I completely understand where’s she’s coming from. It’s like the house cant function without mum taking 20 minutes!
