This Mum has a list of requirements for potential babysitters that takes things to a whole new level!

Finding the perfect babysitter is a challenge. Can you trust them? Do they get along with your kids? Are they responsible? We all have a pretty good idea of what we’re looking for, but one mum has taken things to the next level, posting her list of babysitter requirements anonymously online, kidspot.com.au reports.

Impossible Demands

While the mum’s list of criteria for her ideal babysitter included some reasonable requests, such as having experience and possibly a childcare qualification, there were also some downright ridiculous attributes suitable candidates were required to have.

With such high expectations, and three children to look after, you’d expect a high hourly rate to match, but the demanding mum said she would only be prepared to pay ‘$10 an hour under the table cash,’ apparently equivalent to $15 an hour if you had to pay tax. Talk about stingy. If you want Mary Poppins, you better be prepared to cough up the big bucks!

Gone Too Far

The post has been met with widespread criticism, with many people quick to label the list as delusional. “Would be worried about someone who had the degree/experience but was still willing to graft for $10 an hour,” one Reddit user posted. “For $10/hr I will come over and watch your tv and eat your snacks. Expect to return alive children…that’s about it,” another said. One woman also expressed disbelief at the qualifications required. “I’d love to take the job, but my experience as a paediatric ICU nurse just won’t cut it I guess,”she said.

We think the whole thing is totally ridiculous. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself a genuinely kind, mature and punctual babysitter who your kids like, that’s good enough for us. No qualification can give you that.

  • Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I find it funny that the slow escalation of this list of demands into unreasonable absurdity didn’t tip over for me until the Trump line. This has *got* to be a joke. I’m in absolute hysterics here LOL!!! If it’s real, this lady deserves everything the internet is throwing at her, and then some!

  • Wow, just wow
Ignoring the pay…the list of demands is just ridiculous…. I get you want the best for your kids but most parents don’t even have those qualifications and we seem to be keeping our kids alive just fine.

  • Reminds me how bad pay is in America. But the demands are downright wrong too and degrading

  • Wow that’s crap! I’m just happy to have someone who’s available! I generally use friends or family so I don’t have to pay but it sounds like she more or less wants a nanny for a McDonald’s wage!

  • I knew from the headline that she would want the world and only be willing to pay peanuts.
I say good luck to her and feel sorry for anyone who does take the job.

  • This can’t be for real imo.

  • Wow…that is long list…good luck with finding someone

  • I would be happy to find a babysitter with these qualifications. I would also be expecting to pay top dollar for their surfaces. With that list of requirements, experience and qualifications a person won’t be that cheap to hire

  • What a list! I don’t think she’ll get many applications…lol

  • I wonder if she gets much work. We just used family or friends who knew our child.

  • Seriously, who would want to work for her.

  • Wonder if this was really a tongue in cheek advert or if it was printed as a joke. If not then she has very high expectations and, if she wants these qualifications met by a babysitter, she may never be leaving home alone for a long time.

  • I wonder if the tax dept made an application to catch her out

  • Maybe she should have lead with the trump line, that way nobody would have to waste their time reading her long list of demands… I wonder just how many boxes she ticks on her own list? I’m guessing Spanish/Mexican as a 2nd language will not sit well with her?

  • Seems like she should stick too looking after her own children. No one would work for that money, let alone actually met her extreme list of requirements.
