One mum got so frustrated dropping off her children at school she turned to Facebook to outline the correct etiquette and soon went viral.

Stephanie Blakely Calabrace’s Facebook post was a tongue in cheek explanation of who doesn’t belong in the school drop-off line.

Her hilarious post has over 10,000 shares since she first shared her grievances.

She wrote: “I’m only going to say this once.

“If you have to bathe and dress your kid, comb their hair, scramble them an egg and write them a send off letter before they can exit the car- YOU DO NOT BELONG IN THE SCHOOL DROP OFF LINE.

“Only people who raised their kids to jump out of the car with backpacks loaded like they are storming the beaches of Normandy while the car is at a slow roll are allowed in the drop off line.

“I will be giving stink eye warnings today but tomorrow I’m issuing citations.”

Can you relate?

  • My daugher suffers anxiety and needs a lot of encouragement, School for her next year so new challenges await. I wont be in the “drop off line” I’ll be parking and walking to spend time with her

  • Yep
I also think that the parents of older kids should park further away. Your kid can walk himself out of school and to the car, you don’t even have to get out the car!
But for the preprimary and younger kids, we need to get there earlier than the bell, pick em up and walk them to the car…. for little legs after a big day it would be nice to get a closer spot

  • Yes! My sister is so guilty of this and her kids are so slow! My son isn’t at school yet but my plan is to park in the stress free area a block or two away and walk him up.

  • Haha so true. Drop your kids and go!

  • Probably you have these parents who misuse the pick-up/drop-off zone everywhere.

  • My kids either rode their bikes to school or caught the bus. So much less hassle that way.

  • Haha. We didn’t have a drop off /pick up line

  • Definitely a large part of it is tongue in cheek.
However I know of one school which does not allow year reception or one to leave the classroom at the end of the day unless a parent or other authorised adult to collect the child.

  • Yep. The kiss and ride zone at our school always has one or two people fiddling or chattering away instead of moving along like they should. We live a short walk from school and half an hour after the bells gone you can still hear them calling up kids for pick up in the afternoon for this reason. Get in and get out people. Hahaha
