Mum shares furious rant after she claims that day care workers secretly waxed her two-year-olds eyebrows.

Alyssa Salgado is demanding answers after noticing her daughter’s uni-brow had disappeared.

“I go pick up my daughter yesterday and saw a red mark in between her eye brows,” the mum rages in a post online.

“I think it’s a scratch but as soon as I get home I get a closer look; these women decided to wax my daughter’s uni-brow.”

The mum immediately contacted the director of Columbia Basin College’s day care, but says she was not taken seriously.

“She [laughed] in my face, telling me a bunch of lies,” the mum wrote.

Her post went viral, with another mum also claiming the same thing happened to her son.

Glenda Maria Cruz, sends her 1-year-old son to the same day care, and also claims his eyebrows were waxed.

In a Facebook post on the same day as Ms Salgado’s, the mum said she never thought something like this could happen.

“I know a lot of you are going to say this is not a big deal but … it is,” Cruz wrote, adding that toddlers’ skins are very delicate. “My son can’t talk and I don’t know what he has been through and it’s really hard … because he’s just a baby. He can’t defend himself.”

The day care eventually released a statement saying it was “aware of the complaint against the day care staff and is conducting its own investigation of the incidents”.

However, Alyssa is determined to keep sharing the story until someone faces consequences, she said.

“I would like this to get out, imagine if this was your son or daughter and if they were waxing them imagine how much pain you would be in…. I can imagine her calling out mommy and I wasn’t there to protect her I failed her. But I refuse to let this go unnoticed!!!”

How would you feel if this was your young child?

  • Unacceptable. It’s called child care not child groomers. I’m wondering why they had hair removal wax there in the first place, and if they do it to all kids with more eyebrow than they deem okay. If the mother wanted her daughter’s eyebrow waxed, she would’ve had it done or done it herself. The least they could do is ask first. Maybe it’s in their contract “Children are only allowed to have a certain amount of eyebrow hair. Those sporting brow hair above that amount will be waxed to our liking.”. Crikey.

  • Children should be allowed to be children – this could set up a how do I look, am I alright, etc. etc. for the rest of their lives when they should only be playing happily.

  • It’s an outrage. What if they had caused permanent damage? A child’s skin is very sensitive. The wax that would have been used is for adults. Hope you get justice for what they did.

  • That’s disgusting! Children that age should not be subjected to beauty regimes especially at day care- why would they even have wax there? It’s a day care centre!

  • They have absolutely no right whatsoever!

  • If indeed this is real, what a terrible betrayal of trust on behalf of the daycare employee(s).

  • The before and after pictures look the same to me. Have they got this on video or on their phone as evidence? Just curious.

  • June11 thanks for pointing out that in Australia this is deemed a crime – it should be in every country. Trust is broken with everyone when an act like this occurs.

  • If they did that to my child the only people I’d be sharing the story with would be the police, my lawyer and whatever body oversees Day Care Workers in my state.

  • How dare they do something like that & then think it’s funny when the mum complains, this is a small child in a daycare facility not a beauty salon. The person responsible should be charged

  • I’m speechless!

  • I would be furious and heads would roll!

  • In Australia this is Child Abuse, also Assault. Regardless of the country this happened in the person who did this should be charged in court in addition to be sued by the parents

  • I would be furious as well when someone took the freedom to wax my child !

  • I would be furious and demand answers and report it to the highest authorities. Could this be deemed assault? Would be interesting to know the legalities?
