Mum with young daughter who has severe cerebal palsy is trying to track down a family whose act of kindness in a supermarket moved her to tears.

Amanda Preece, 27, was in Coles at St Mary’s in Sydney west with her four-year-old daughter Ella on Wednesday and having a “really bad day”, she told Nine.com.au.

“We were at the butcher’s and then this beautiful five-year-old girl came up holding a bunch of flowers,” she said.

“She was smiling and she said, ‘I just wanted to give these to your little girl’.”

Ms Preece said the girl’s father then approached her and told her his brother had been in a wheelchair and he just wanted to make someone else’s day.

The simple act of kindness made not only her day but her year, Ms Preece said.

“A lot of time when we go to the shops Ella’s been loud and difficult so it’s really nice to have a positive experience,” she said.

“I was in so much shock that I didn’t get the chance to thank them more. To repay them in some way because they really did touch us. It’s something that we’ll always remember.”

Ms Preece said she hoped to get in touch with the family again to express her gratitude.

Can you help Amanda find this family?

  • Amanda was probably so overwhelmed the last thing on her mind would have been to ask their names. Maybe Amanda should talk to the Coles Staff that may have witnessed this event. If the other people go there regularly one of staff may remember the appearance of the person and diplomatically ask their names.
