A mum has shocked the internet with an engagement ring she claims is made out of breast milk and her son’s umbilical cord.

Sharing a photo online, the woman revealed ‘Posting because I LOVE my wedding band! I gravitate towards vintage rings. I also love the gold ring because it’s a keepsake ring,’ she wrote on Facebook.

Explaining that the stone is made of breastmilk, her sons umbilical cord and pieces of both her sons hair mixed with gold flakes, shared Daily mail.

Her post was then shared in a ring shaming group where hundreds of commenters expressed how horrified they were with the style.

Many commented that they weren’t shocked by the use of breast milk as it’s slowly becoming more common in jewellery, but the idea of the umbilical cord and hair left them feeling sick.

Probably not really my style, but I do love the idea of such a special keepsake.

  • Each to their own but not for me thank you.

  • This makes me feel queasy thinking about wearing that on my finger

  • I feel ill reading what is in the ring, I do not see how it is hygienic to walk around with solidified body fluid on your hand. Each to their own

  • You wouldn’t even know just looking at the ring. It’s not like she has hair and the umbilical cord on a chain around her neck! Not really my style but I’m not the one who has to wear it

  • I could never even contemplate wearing a ring like this but I’m not judging. If she is happy with it that’s all that matters.

  • Never heard of this idea, whatever floats your boat, but not for me.

  • All depends when you had your children – older mothers wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have these things and so they all they can do is wonder ‘IF’!

  • Looks very nice to be honest. Wouldn’t know it’s “ingredients” by looking at it.

  • Ok, so I’m going to sound weird here. But, I’d do the umbilical thing. I still have my kids umbilical cords/stumps. I just couldn’t bin them, it’s like binning my kids. Yuck, I’m sure most would think that.

  • Bleurgh. Each to their own though – I can appreciate that it is very creative!

  • Um, yeah, ok, whatever turns you on. Not something I would do. Certainly a unique ring though.

  • It’s kind of cool but a bit weird. I would love to know how it’s done!

  • I get it, but it’s a bit gross really. Plus what if you have more kids and have used only ones stuff for your engagement ring? Seems silly to me
