Mum shares an important message about the dangers of kids taking toys with them to the local play centre.

Sharing in the Mummy Madness Calm the Chaos Facebook group the mum shared her message to warn other parents of this seemingly innocent danger.

“Attention parents, the dangers of letting your little ones/ other kids take their own toys into the equipment!

“Today my MIL and I took my son and niece to a jungle gym and just before we left I went into this area to film them playing. Suddenly I got hit extremely hard on the side of my head and it knocked me down. Jax and I initially laughed that a ball hit me but then I realised it was way too hard for a foam ball.

“I then saw a small lightning McQueen car sitting beside me and realised a child had put their toy through the gun and it had shot through at quite fast speed and hit me!

“I then realised I had blood all over my hand and running down my face.”

The mum added that she was very thankful that it was not a deep gash and she was only left with a massive headache and an egg.

However realising how lucky she was she said she can not stop thinking about how bad it would have been, especially if it had hit her son or niece who were standing right next to her at the time.  OR if she had turned her head in that moment and it hit her in the eye!

The venue was extrememly apologetic, although as she said it was certainly not their fault.

She also wanted to warn parents to please be vigilant of these things and don’t allow your children to take their toys with them when heading to a play centre.

  • This is where all parents need to be watching over their children at all times while in these facilities.

  • Very unfortunate but could have been worse. We have had near misses with broken (alcohol) glasses in parks near swing sets.

  • A very important reminder – it can be hard to track kds every moment in play centres.

  • Oh my goodness, what a scare, imagine if it was your child that happened to. My son who was 2 got his hand stuck in a vending machine with toys in it at a play centre. He was beside himself.

  • These experiences are very rare but still all the same time still extremely frightening. It is imperative that parents supervise their children at all times in these play centres.

  • Yeah, not a great idea. Parents need to parent their children still in these centres and not use it as an opportunity to switch off and enjoy a coffee or me time. Kids toys should not be allowed in these centres. The children are there to play in the centre, not with their toys.

  • I am so over hearing of things like this happening! Parents, just because you go to a centre doesn’t mean you switch off and socialise, etc. and ignore your children. They’re not child care facilities. The amount of people I see not monitoring children when I go is ridiculous and it makes things not enjoyable for others. A big pet hate is munged, squished food on the equipment when food is not allowed in play areas.

  • Lucky it wasn’t more serious. Definitely don’t let children take their own toys when they go to a play centre

  • Oh goodness, it’s really hard to avoid these things that happen

  • Great post – makes all of us beware of the dangers.

  • I don’t like the sound of the ‘gun’ thingy. That sounds like it is the dangerous part of this story. Anything, not just a toy could become a projectile.

  • Very scary. There should maybe be a policy not to allow toys inside such centres.

  • I don’t really go to play centres but my mum does with all the grandies so I’ll have to let her know.

  • No I didn’t have such experience. I always have discouraged my kids to take toys to such places.

  • Very scan and it would have been a lot worse if it was a child.
