Australian mothers are suffering work overload, with 1 in 10 getting just 15 minutes of ‘me time’ a day, according to new research by Mumgo.com.au.

The results confirm that we have a nation of time poor mums and that the deprivation is more extreme than ever, with the majority of mums having less than one hour of me-time.

An alarming 1 in 10 are enjoying just minutes to themselves, only managing to fit in a precious 15 minutes.

So how are the nation’s mums spending their time? The results show that there’s a shift away from typical ‘relaxing’ activities such as bubble baths and massages, with Aussie mums instead looking to technology to help them unwind in the comfort of their own home through shopping online, watching TV and chatting with friends on social media.

With such a limited amount of time to dedicate to themselves, Aussie mums are craving more me-time and turning to the Internet as a low-key and accessible outlet for entertainment.

  • It is hard to find me time when you’re a mum. I wasn’t phased by this, I glad my kids because I wanted my kids so it was never a chore to spend time with them. Even if it was all my time as I always knew one day they would leave me….and they have

  • With young children it really is a struggle to get non-interrupted time to yourself. I have learnt though (may have taken 7 years!!) that you do actually need it to be a better wife/mother/woman…and it is not selfish…but important.
