Hello!

The cherry blossoms are blooming, the air is clear & the sun is (mostly) shining! It’s spring time, a time to shake off your winter habits and bring in something new!

#1 Drink a fresh juice once a day

I know it might sound strange and to some a little yuck, but drinking a freshly squeezed fruit or veggie juice can work wonders for you body! Softer skin, glowing eyes, a boosted immune system and boosted energy levels… what’s not to love about a fresh juice?!

And don’t forget to post it on Instagram! #healthymummaalert

#2 Calf raises + waiting for your coffee = mini workout

The saying “A little bit goes a long way” can be applied to any life situation and especially in regards to getting fit! Slip little exercises into your daily routine to keep your blood pumping and muscles working throughout the day.

Why not try lunging down the hall way or jogging on the spot while you wait for the microwave to ding? Even things as little as practicing controlled breathing can work wonders for you body! #feelthelove

#3 Switch off

When the sun goes to rest, so should you. But as all mums know, the time between your kids going to bed and you hitting the pillow is precious time that aught not to be wasted.

Whether you spend it packing the lunches for the next day or ironing you and your husbands work attire or even sipping some wine and scrolling through Facebook. But, as much as we all enjoy a good cat video before bed studies have shown that using your phone, tablet or laptop before bed harms your quality of sleep; the blue light suppresses  melatonin (the wonder hormone that lets you have a good nights rest) which also will inevitably disrupt your sleep throughout the night (yikes!).

Tip: Put your phone away at least an hour before bedtime!

#4 Date night

For parents with older kids, this one is a little simpler; But that doesn’t mean if you have little ones that you and your man can’t enjoy a special evening together. Whip up a quick dessert and treat yourselves after dinner while your kids are in bed, you could even make the dessert together!

Theres nothing like a good chocolate moose and some soft jazz to set the mood, and when paired with an episode of your favourite TV show, it’s bound to be a good night-even if you have to watch it on your laptop sharing earphones so you don’t wake the kids. #itsthelittlethings

#5 TLC

Feeling refreshed can mean anything from a run on the beach to a bath & face mask. But for this particular tip, it involves the later.

Grab a face mask and some candles because it’s time for some tender love and care; paint your nails a new colour, brush & braid your hair and have a bath… even if you bring your kids along for some funny face mask fun! Sometimes hearing your kids laugh is all you need for your hard working mind to ease.

Did these tips help you feel refreshed and ready to tackle another day of spring? And don’t forget to let us know what TV show you’ll be watching on your next date night in the comments below!

  • I do the mini workout and eat plenty of fresh fruit & veggies (no juice), but life is very busy at the moment and date night and TLC is not happening.

  • I love a mini workout while im waiting for the kettle to boil or the toast to cook. I also take a couple of minutes to stretch in the mornings, It gets the joints going and gives a good start to the day .

    • I do workouts when hanging out the washing – A little circuit and lots of stretches.

  • Oh, I’d wish I had the energy to do all this. :-) In the evening I am generally quite tired so the only “treat” I get is reading for half an hour in bed before switching the light off.
If I had a date night I would go with “Friends”. I love to watch it and re-watch it again!! :-)
